Conservatives awaken: It’s UN day!

I remember the commercial when I was young…the smiling hostess from some far away land. “Come to the UN”, she said, as if it was this magical theme park. It seems amazing, this farmers market of international relations. Some conservatives get nervous at the UN, though.

Cap and trade policy would fight global warming

Friday's editorial: Protect the polar bears

Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne has listed the polar bear as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. It’s the first step toward reversing the animals’ downward spiral to potential extinction.

They've caught on in Britain

In a recent poll in Britain, some two-thirds of respondents believe the green agenda is mainly a tax-raising ploy. And 70 percent said they are not willing to pay higher taxes for strategies to deal with feared climate change. The lesson for politicians would seem to be: Any energy tax proposed should be revenue-neutral.
