I'll be interested to see what Dennis Moore does in the remainder of his final term in Congress. Freed from the burden of looking toward the next election, will he take some stands, show some fire? Lately he's been a consumate fence sitter.
The Republican primary for the seat Moore is vacating is shaping up as a donnybrook. Just about everybody who's ever run against Moore and lost is getting into the ring (with the notable exception of Adam Taft, who pleaded guilty to charges of wire fraud involving campaign funds.)
It'll be interesting to see how much of a moderate-conservative split plays out in the GOP primary. Will outsider groups intervene in the race and demand no-tax pledges and other forms of ideological purity? It'll also be interesting to see what Democrats throw their hats into the ring.
Republican Kevin Yoder, a rising star in the Kansas Legislature, has announced he's forming an exploratory committee. If he's serious about running, he should give up his spot as chair of the Legislature's appropriations committee. It's pretty hard to put together a coherent budget and run for Congress at the same time. And budget chairs aren't making many friends these days. But Yoder, an ambitious and smart politician, no doubt has already figured that out.
One name I haven't seen mentioned today: Pat Colloton, the GOP rep from Leawood. She's an effective legislator who has been rumored as a possible contender for Moore's seat.

Moore has sold his soul and knows the piper is calling
He has been straddling the fence for so long, but now is showing his true colors. He's a leftist liberal schill. He's in the pocket of Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Obama and a dead Kennedy.
He knows he'll never get reelected now so is free to vote as liberal as his black soulless heart desires. I can only hope he has the "courage, honor and respect" to move somewhere else when he retires. He doesn't belong in Kansas anymore.

What fence might he be sitting on, Babs?

It is the one surrounding Pelosi's throne.
Moore has become a MINO democrat. (moderate ino) who has given up his once proudly proclaimed standard of fiscal responsibility.
Absent the objective of re-election he will, most assuredly, continue his reckless "drunken sailor" attitude regarding your money.......in other words Babs ....you will love him as he leaves office.
The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.
New Standard?
If he's serious about running, he should give up his spot as chair of the Legislature's appropriations committee
A new standard? Since when is it expected that someone give up something in order to run for another office?
Remember the day after the Dem caucus in Kansas about a year and a half ago--boy, someone sure was in awe of all those "Democrats" who participated. Where are they all now? Hmmmmmm.....too bad nobody saw the out of state cars and buses right there in the parking lot.
Maybe Barb should contact whomever is in charge of the Democratic Party in Kansas and ask why they can't put quality candidates on the ballot for Governor and this district seat. My guess is she knows the answer and just refuses to write about it.
Huh?
Was this article about Moore's final actions as a Congressman? I must have missed something, er, "interesting"... BTW: "She's an effective legislature..." What?
