Fox News on Tuesday won a mini-round of its continuing war with the Obama administration.

Stepping down earlier than she once intended, Anita Dunn is out as White House communications director after seven months on the job.

Dunn will be best remembered for setting off the administration's irresponsible and simply dumb battle with Fox News weeks ago when she said:

"The reality of it is that Fox News often operates almost as either the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party."

Fox News jumped on the controversy and milked it for stronger ratings in the days after the incident.

President Barack Obama then made things worse by escalating the fight, refusing to appear on Fox News during a round of interviews, and basically belittling the network in an interview a few days later.

Deputy Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer replaces Dunn.

Expect to hear his take on Fox News soon.
