Jimmy Carter is brokering on behalf of former (debatable) President Zelaya of Honduras…presently, in-residence at the Brazil’s Tegucigalpa Embassy. Will Honduras’ military be stupid enough to storm diplomatic real estate?

Suggest that the government of Honduras, restore water, power and phone service to the Brazilian Embassy. By creating a siege event, this runs the risk of further bloodshed and further taint their murky legitimacy, such as it is. The world is watching…maybe not closely enough, but the governments of Central and South America know this is a precedent-setting event.

Is President Obama sanctioning Carter’s efforts, or is Jimmy doing his own well-intentioned diplomacy…again?

The interim government of Honduras appears rather nervous today and nervous is not good in stand-offs. Nervous people end up doing stupid things like violating diplomatic immunity. Zelaya in the meantime stirs up the masses saying his life is in danger from mercenaries hired to deal with him.

We must be up to something in the background…what will President Obama do?

One plausible course of action is…Nothing.

In the meantime, Brazil's very capable military forces are probably on more than alert. They will not stand by, idle.
