It should come as no surprise. Is anyone surprised? Good. French President Nicolas Sarkozy spoke to Iran today, quite loudly. Iran’s Foreign Minister replied Sarkozy’s remarks are political.
Reserve the Foreign Minister a seat in freshman Poli-Sci -101.
Of course it’s political. France threatens more sanctions. Obama must be pleased to have Sarkozy playing the tough cop today, right before the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh. Sarkozy made his remarks based upon his own intelligence service’s analysis earlier in the week.
Today the world receives an echo on this from the august body, the IAEA in Vienna…Iran has the ability to make a bomb. And right after that missile announcement this morning!
Could that have been Obama’s olive branch to Iran?
Has Obama been reading another chapter in “Thinking in Time: the Uses of History for Decision-Makers” by Neustadt and May (1986)? The course at the Kennedy School of Government (Harvard) must be shifting the syllabus today to discuss current events. This is big. Really big.
It’s all about timing isn’t it? Speaking of thinking in time…now what?

I see no one wants to adress the real issue in the article
Funny, all the comments here seem to be related to how much some folks like the French, what does POTUS stand for and Bush Bashing II.
Surely someone here wants to defend our foreign policy disaster and our kowtowing to Moscow because our POTUS is afraid to face down Iran.
If you saw Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lose her cool with an African College Student Q&A, you can see why we haven't sent her to Russia or Iran. I would like to see her go to North Korea, but of course her Husband got the nod there.

Sorry I realize the Star has made a lot of cutbacks. Just in case you're not sure USA stands for United States of America.
Just saying
that the last time someone listened to intelligence services it all ended up with those individuals being called liars. Surely the President of the United States will ignore all of those reports from intelligence services because as we all know they just make stuff (wanted to use a different word) up.
You Don't Have to Talk Tough to Be Tough
Yes, we need a REAL president to make a bunch of empty threats, that worked out really well last time. And as for the French, how much did the French taxpayers pay for Iraq and Afghanistan, and how many French troops died? ZERO. Yet France reaped the same "benefits" we did out of these two wars. Of course the French took advantage of us, but we let them. If you let somebody take advantage of you, who's the dummy?

Having served “avec” the French, I can say, they can fight very well and tenaciously… In particular, the Legion chaps may take offense to your remarks and invite you to a day or two of training in Djibouti… just my read… take plenty of water and follow directions to prevent push-ups... :-)

Obama sits out dance let's France Lead
That should have been your lead storyline. This POTUS like to use his bully pulpit to force his healthcare plan down his own country's throat, but bows to Foreign Leaders in Saudia Arabia, quivers in the presence of the Russian Elected Dictator, runs from our own missle defense program and let's France be the tough guy. Please Mr POTUS, read your history, France couldn't talk or fight their way out of a wet paperbag. They invented the White Flag.
What a disgrace this POTUS' foreign policy is, but what did you expect when his Secretary of State couldn't even handle a question and answer session with poor, uneducated, backward students from Africa.
