By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist
The knives are out for former President Jimmy Carter for telling the truth: Racism is hurting President Barack Obama.
Look at the facts, which show there's a great racial divide in America regarding Obama.
In the 2008 elections, for instance, Obama got 10 percent of the white vote in Alabama, 11 percent in Mississippi, 23 percent in Georgia and 26 percent in Texas.
Even outside the South, Obama received 31 percent of the white vote in Utah, 33 percent in Idaho, 40 percent in Kansas and 42 percent in Missouri.
It's not at all untoward to look at those results and conclude that there were plenty of white people in those states judging Obama by his skin color, not the merits of his positions vs. GOP candidate John McCain.
And as Carter pointed out Tuesday, that kind of racial divide continues to exist in America as Obama tries to carry out his policies.
Obama doesn't want this furor on his hands right now, given all the incredibly important policy decisions he's handling.
But critics are off base when they carp about Carter and his comments. They were truthful. And they sting.

Obama IS the Racial Divide
Black father + White Mother = POTUS.
So why is it that evertime someone disagrees with him that's white it's because he's black? I thought he was mixed raced as well as being (mixed up/confused/lost).
If his birth certificate is correct than why can't white people dislike his policies because they are wrong, stupid, expensive and utter failures? Or are only Blacks allowed to have those feelings for this POTUS' blunders?
What do you call Blacks who disagree with the POTUS....Uncle Toms?

You seem to have "picked and
You seem to have "picked and choosen" your facts to suit your own bias. Spouting a few lines of statistics does not make for a valid argument. There are more intensive studies that run counter to your post.
To quote a more in-depth analysis:
"Barack Obama won a convincing popular and electoral victory Tuesday. According to exit polls, the Illinois senator did better with white voters than the past two Democratic nominees, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry and Vice President Al Gore, did in the 2004 and 2000 elections."
[ref: http://www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2008/11/obama_made_inroads_with_white.html ]
=========
All of that aside, is there any statistical percentage of votes for Obama that would have swayed your argument ? Would 50% of whites have to vote for Obama ? 60%, 80 %, 90 %
I know what the percentage is: as long as there is less than 100% support of Obama by white voters, we will always be considered a racist country.
Good luck with that.
Is this your argument? Race Bating?
If you can't win the argument accuse everyone that disagrees with President Obama that they are a racist. You cheapen the term and lessen the probability that when genuine racism takes place it is taken as seriously as it should be.
Why don't you throw in Pellosi's statement concerning gays in the 70's. You can try to paint those that disagree with President Obama and the Socialists - I mean Democrats - that they are gay basher's too.
Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic. But I'm sure you sit around and tell each other at the Star how inclusive you are and how only you can bring people of color together, well you and the Democrats. You guys are the ONLY ones bringing up race.
The one screaming racist the loudest in order to STOP a discussion is in fact the only true Racist at the table!
Typical
The Left, and particularly urban liberals of color, always pull this race cr*p when they begin to lose support. It is a bit insulting to those of us black conservatives who disagree with Obama policies.
The problem is this will backfire you Lefties. You can't call a significant portion of the populace racists for simple opposition to an idea as far away as health care reform without repercussions.
Mark my words...people are getting fed up and will ultimately throw all the bums out.
Yael, when are you required to have facts
I pointed out to you this morning that your percentages were wrong. I even posted a link to CNN that showed the actual percentages.
.
Yael, when you post your thread, if you state facts, don't you need to update or acknowledge when your facts are wrong?
.
Or do you just move on to your next asinine post?
Our Motto at the star
is onward and upward... Don't look back...
I just saw all those quotes
I just saw all those quotes and couldn't resist:
"Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people..... it is true that most stupid people are conservative."
John Stuart Mill
Racism...
All you need to do is to follow the money...
In the most obvious case we have rainbowPUSH. This shakedown organization headed by Jesse Jackson threatens companies within sitins or demonstrations if they don't give it money. Companies do to avoid the publicilty from our lib media like the star.
Secondly, you have many college dept.s with staff and instructors teaching racial "something". These need racism to be rampant to maintain their funding and therefore the libs' in these dept.s jobs.
Finally, sadly, you have "reporters" like YT and Louie and papers like the star who please their bosses by writing or publishing articles with a racial bias. If they didn't, the lib bosses would either fire them or close the paper... How they sleep at night, I don't know...
So, once again, money talks and bs walks...
Election results are Racist
Oh my Yael, you've been sitting next to Lewis D so long you've gotten to be a racist wolf cryer by osmosis.
Please check to see if there MIGHT be a correlation to Obama's election results and the fact that he had no demonstrated history of executive leadership, no demonstrated history of legislative leadership and no plausible excuse for the types of people he associated with. I'm sure that had nothing to do with those who decided not ot vote for him.
Please drop the race card. Given the election of this president, Affirmative Action hiring is officially dead. Stand on your own two feet and what you have accomplished or get out of the way.
You're almost, but just almost, as sad has former President Carter. And that Sir is SAD!
Anti-Reds
We hope Obamanation's policies will fail because he's a Red, not because he's partly white, partly black, and partly Arab.
Fox News stories don't have a comment section.
This may be a bit beyond the topic but I just have to say is somewhere.
The Fox News site doesn't have a reader comment section which is typical of the news sites. What does that tell us?
I can say that Fox News panders to a conservative readership. There have been solid studies. By "pandering", I mean they have a nitch. All news agencies "pander", that's there job, to find a market and sell to it. So we know that Fox News articles lean hard to the right.
I did this study myself. People who vote republican choose Fox News as their source of information. Another study demonstrated that all news organizations are excellent at being biased exactly where their readership is biased. The undeniable conclusion is that people choose the news that validates their ideas.
And, we know that the Fox News choice of not having a comment section is because their readership is more comfortable without it. Why do we know this? Because, the Fox executives arent' stupid, they are in the business of selling news and presenting it the way there readers want it. So, the only reasonable conclusion is that the hard right conservatives, and readers of Fox News, don't want to read opposing comments.
And the Fox News tagline is "Fair and balanced"?
On the other hand, to the credit of the Kansas City Star readership, since 1900, the prarie states have had a culture of education. Throught 1960, the prarie states, like Kansas were the leaders in education in America.
I point this out as Kansas has typically voted a little more Republican than Democrat and Republican's are conservative. Yet, here we see commentary that leans in a direction seemingly in opposition to the radical right.
Kudos to The Kansas City Star and their readership for putting intelligence and information above their group identification. I can only hope that, someday, the majority will recognize that were better of improving the Democratic Party than supporting the Republican Party.

You can post comments after Fox's articles.
http://www.thefoxnation.com/
Really, at the end of the article?
Really, right at the end of the artcle? I must have missed it. I looked though. Didn't see them.
Really, I looked for a section of comments following the article. Just like I see following most articles. Didn't see it. Perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps my browser does't display the comments at the end of the article.
Or, are you saying that the comments are put is a different section? Somewhere else. My bad. But then again, it seems kind of odd that the comment section is seperated from the article when most comment sections follow immediately.
But then, though more subtle, that's my point. I read the Kansas City Star and find the comments, pro and con, follow directly after the article. Can't miss that. Don't have to go looking for it. In your face, what you don't agree with.
And, what's really cool is you can click "quote" and pull the other guys comment forward. That's excellent. (still learning)
Of course, that doesn't change anything else, Kansas City Star readers read articles with opinions in opposition to what you might expect of hard right conservatives. I would have expected an article debunking the possibility of racial motications in the anti-Obama camp. Why, because it's a red state. Instead, I find an article that suggests that there is evidence that Carter may have a point. And the comments follow directly. You don't have to go looking for them.
Kudo's to Kansas, kudo's to Kansas readers, and Kudo's to Kansas City Readers.
The Mountain Goat is losing it
Obama received just 40% of the white vote in Kansas, so the Mountain Goat believes that proves whites are racially biased against Obama. I doubt that John Kerry (who could be whiter than Kerry) received much more of the vote white in Kansas. In fact, he may have received even a smaller percentage.
So I guess....
...Yael chooses again not to delete comments that favor his opinion regardless of the name calling and insults. Amazing how that works, isn't?
AWESOME effort at getting web traffic here, Yael.
Racism Card
The Democrat proposal for federal takeover of the heathcare industry is in trouble in congress and even more so with the public despite having played the sympathy card, the fairness card, the guilt card, the emotional re-spin by Obama card, and the other cards in their hand, so its time to play the race card. How conveeeeeeeeeeeeeeenient.
Democrats love playing the race card to the point of wallowing with glee over the prospect; because, first, there is no way to disprove the allegation or any negative for that matter; second, even attempting to disprove it appears like guilt just as answering the question “Do you still beat your wife” does; and third, it is actually true for a tiny percentage of the population and our guilt over past racism makes us all wonder just how extensive it might remain.
All of this despite the fact that America elected a black to the presidency.
The ironic thing is that it is Jimmy stagflation Carter who is leading the attack, because the Obama presidency is more likely to be a replay of Carter’s disastrous presidency than either FDR or LBJ, Obama’s preferred predecessor role models.
The question that Democrats need to answer is this. If J.C. Watts were president, could their vehement opposition to his policies dismantling socialist institutions be fairly laid at the feet of Democrat racism? Before you answer, remember the Clarence Thomas lynching?
Please cease and desist your use of knife metaphor cacophemisms
Dear Sirs,
Please cease and desist from usage of knife metaphor cacophemisms in the interests of prevention of knife crime violence.
In the UK, the newspaper group DMGT plc. is now possible to pending corporate incitement to murder legal action due to their continual usage of knife metaphor cacophemisms such as "Knives are out" between July 2001 and July 2009.
Youngsters do not always understand that these are metaphorical knives. A significant percentage of interviewed youngsters (in the UK research undertaken) understand "Knives out" to mean "Get the knives out".
I request you adjust your opening sentence in the light of this information.
We are not suggesting legal action on your newspaper company, and wish you the very best for the future, however we would take action if knife metaphor cacophemisms were further used.
We understand you were probably unaware of the research undertaken, and are not suggesting that you have deliberately incited that "knives be got out". However, you are now in receipt of new knowledge.
Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
Yours sincerely,

Carter's right
The 'hysterical' aspect of the anti-Obama crowd, the irrational paranoia is the racist fear that America is changing from a white protestant male dominated society to a pluralistic one. The KKK/Bircher hatred against the outsider (Catholics, Jews and Blacks), the 'women belong in the home' ideology, Obama as President marks the end of the "Culture" wars Republicans so happy fought .... and lost.
Now, like the hardline Japanese Nationalists who still believe Japan was the victim of WWII, they can't deal with collapse of their belief system. Polls suggest that 'they' represent about 20% of the population and about 75% of (remaining) Republicans.
Sad bunch.
Ignorance

Buckley took care of the Birchers during the 1960s. The KKK is a Democrat group.
Sad bunch.
We all have prejudices period.
There is not one of us here or abroad who can truly claim we don't hold some prejudices towards others whether its race, religion, sex, disability, or ethnicity, we all exhibit from one point to the next. That being said race does play significantly with President Obama, the problem is the way certain media outlets portray it makes the divide hard to see. When you have over 70 percent of the so called TEA party protestors running around with very derogatory and hate filled signs waving in the air, it really makes the lunatic fringe stand out more so than people who have a legitimate complaint. So when you see it on TV its like 1950's Alabama at some (that is read some not all!) gatherings. People need to get a grip that it wasn't less than 50 years ago where lynch mobs were still in existence in the south. You can thank the KKK and other groups like them that make it very hard to be Pro White and seen as being racist. And then again there is the history of some of our descendants where we met the Indians and thought they were savages, and look what happened to them when we expanded our lifestyle? Look at the suburban sprawl where mostly whites were moving in huge numbers out into rural areas from cities. It’s not hard to label these actions as racism or more of black fear and this like other social issues like abortion, gay relationships, polygamy are viewed harshly by a lot of us. It just would be nice if the GOP talking heads and elected officials would denounce the ultra right wing nut jobs and the rest of the good minded conservatives with their core values stand out, and likewise the Dem’s do not automatically use the race card, even if it fits sadly to often to a lot of the discourse seen and heard. Maybe if Faux News had more than one black reporter or commentator on TV they might not be criticized as much LOL maybe when pig fly they’ll do that or when GB finally comes out of the closet!
GeorgeM
Prove it
I'd really love to see you substantiate that one. 70% having hate-filled and derogatory signs, eh? LOL
They're pissed off, but they have good (non-race driven) reasons to be pissed off.
Sorry I got distracted at work when I was typing...
Maybe you should re read with the sentence before it, and maybe the complete line you're whining about. Oh ya I might have inflated that number slightly it is more like 65 percent. Here I'll break it down for you...
That being said race does play significantly with President Obama,
the problem is the way certain media outlets portray it makes the divide hard to see.
When you have over 70 percent of the so called TEA party protestors running around with very derogatory and hate filled signs waving in the air,...
(here's an important part of the sentence)...
it really makes the lunatic fringe stand out more so than people who have a legitimate complaint.
Oh and if they have a such a good reason to be pissed where were the protesters during the stolen election in 2000 or the expansion of government in our lives in the name of war on terror, or the massive expense in American lives and money in Iraq?
Carter's failed presidency and post-presidency
The story is distorted. What Carter actually said was that "the vast majority" of the attacks on Obama are because he's an African-American. If he had simply said that Obama is affected by the fact that racism is alive and well in this country, that would be correct. He probably gets as much sympathy and support from people (like me) delighted to see an African American in the White House as he does opposition from those who aren't. But Carter didn't "tell the truth." Rather, he dismissed opposition to Obama for whatever reason, on whatever issue, as racism. This is, sadly, one more mistake from a man whose presidency was rejected by the American people, and whose post-presidency has been punctuated far too often by foolishness. I voted for Carter. I think he's honest, hard-working, dedicated and unselfish. But I also have come to realize that he's got poor judgment and little discernment, and is, in fact, essentially a tragic figure. He's currently doing Obama much more harm than good.
faldon1
You are trying to perpetuate racial anger
I want you to know that I am a democrat who did not vote for Obama for President. I voted for Obama when he ran for senate, because I thought it was a good fit. After seeing how he squandered his time in office as a US Senator running for president with no federal political experience, I felt that it was offensive to elect him as ladder climber. Had he proved his mettle as a senator working for the state of Illinois, I would have gladly voted for him as president.
My differences with the president is that he has no fiscal restraint, and although I think his programs are important, I do not wish to bankrupt the country like my state representatives did with the state of Illinois.
For you to call this a racial decision I find offensive. I lived and worked in the inner city of both Detroit and Chicago. I am not a racist person, and find that the term "Racist" is being bandied about more frequently than it ever has. If we do not stop using slanderous terms to define our difference of opinion, we will have a race war like this country has never seen. It is time to step back and treat each other as educated people who are entitled to disagree because of our intellectual viewpoints, and stop calling each other names.
Didn't no yael
was a statistician. You are the prefect lib you should work for the o directly. By your deep examination of the data the 95% black vote is racist, which I believe is an ignorant assumption given election history. Are the numbers you cited inconsistant with clinton, kerry, and gore numbers? Did you even take the time to check? Where did your results come from?
You like carter are a race baiter and I think you know it and don't care. For you 2+2= whatever you feel like it should.
I'm with Yael and Jimmy here
Carter wasn't talking about Wilson in particular but was just saying generally that racial tensions are a factor in the heat of the rhetoric. If you know anything about Carter's political career, you have to concede he's dealt with this issue before.
Yes, there were chants of "Bush Lied, People Died" during the Bush years. But that was at rallies, not the floor of the U.S. House. And yes, Dems booed Bush during one of the State of the State addresses. But that's not the same as calling him a liar to his face. That should be beneath a congressman.
That said, I think the official reprimand succeeded only in prolonging the debate. Wilson should have been man enough to apologize to his Capitol colleagues, but failing that, better that Congress had let it go.
Very stupid comment.
Read that again and tell me it doesn't sound stupendously ridiculous.
A chorus of democrats booing and hissing is somehow more tolerable than a single republican saying "you lie"?
Yes, there's a difference
That is my contention. Booing and clapping are the accepted gestures of opposition and support in this context. Calling someone a liar is not.
Even Wilson's wife asked who was the "nut" who yelled that out. She realized it was out of line.
I'm sorry you can't see the difference.
It's all about fear
It's not news that we have various "isms" alive and well in this country. There must be a fear gene in our collective DNA that causes us to make snap judgements about, and lump together, people based on their looks, before we even get to know them.
But for Carter to play the race card here, I think is unfortunate. There's no way to prove it, so offenders simply deny it and counter by playing their own ism card. Even worse, the charge has the effect of shutting down legitimate debate with conservatives who honestly disagree with Obama, and yes, they do exist.
If it's provable, like wage or job discrimnation, then have at it. Otherwise, it just inflames things even more, with some hurling counter-charges and others claiming innocence.
END OF THE RACISM DEBATE; OBAMA VS. KERRY, W/ GRAPHS
"So in terms of the overall trend, Obama generally improved among whites, but the shift in trend towards the right of the chart is significant."
http://www.pollster.com/blogs/white_vote_for_obama_in_the_st_1.php
^ A few areas where the white vote slipped, but overall he was treated very fairly (historically speaking) for a democratic presidential candidate and his race didn't seem to negatively influence his election.
And, there were states quoted by "Yael" that were supposed to support his claim that whites are racist that show Obama got more support from whites in 2008, as a percentage, then Kerry did in the general election for 2004 as a percentage! How ridiculously dishonest of "Yael T. Abouhalkah".
Losing the argument.
Let's see, so far we've had a total one black person beat up--by Democrat SEIU members. Shouldn't the argument be about how racists democrats are?
And Wilson simply said "You Lie". Whatever bigotry you see see there, you added it yourself (works for Maureen Dowd). And I suppose we're just supposed to forget 8 years of unchecked vitriol directed at bush and be suddenly appalled.
Whenever you hear "racism" being tossed around, you know a liberal is losing an argument.
Right on the money!!
I agree with "Losing the argument."!!
While the Democrats didn't say "You Lie" during one of Bush's speeches, they did BOO him (an interruption) during his "State of the Union" speech.
carter
I grew up in Mississippi (I'm white). Most of the rightwing nut jobs are racists, pure and simple. Carter is from Georgia, and he knows, and he has it exactly right. Of course no one wants to be CALLED a racist, especially racists.
I'm sorry if it wounds your delicate sensitivities, but a political stance that grew out of the utter lies put forward by the white "Citizens' Councils" of the 50s and 60s and out of angry allegiance to a failed flag and a racist confederation can never be given credence and respectability. No matter how much whitewash you dump on it, it is still the same stinking pile of ordure.
It's simple: If you do not want to be called a racist, quit acting like one and quit defending racism. It only takes a little common sense and common decency.
Oh, I see. That's the problem.
ignorance
Sometimes reading the drivel that some analysts(?) put out makes one really nauseated. Poor Obama is suffering persecution because he's "black" as opposed to "white"? It of course couldn't be because he's plunged the country into financial insolvency or made some pretty bad calls since he took over, or that he's going to push government controlled health care down everyone's throat even though the majority have indicated they are against it? True he's had the help of his cronies in congress, but they aren't particularly liked either if you look at the polls. Must be that they are all "black" huh? Interesting that all the states he quoted didn't vote Democrat in the previous all “white" president elections. Get off the color issue. This country is more color blind then it’s ever been and will continue to judge performance on performance and even less on colour in the years ahead.
Take of your racial glasses and do some REAL research
First off, I agree with your initial premise. There IS a racial divide in this country, it swings both ways though (95% of black voted for BO).
BUT, if you were to do 5 minutes of research you would see that more people in Utah voted for Barak Obama (33%) than they did for John Kerry (26%). Does that mean that people in Utah are biased against New Englanders or does that mean you really didn't care to do research??
You are labeling entire states as racist without doing any honest research. In the case of Utah, they are predominantly Republican (almost 3 to 1).
Could yeal be more wrong if he tried ?
Carter made an idiotic statement and Played the Race card and now its blowing up in his face . This is about Policy and not about race The problem is now Obama is getting pulled in and after Van Jones, Skip Gates and the rest his Credibility on the issue is going away . Not to Mention the ACORN disaster .
Could you be more wrong, Blade1?
Carter made a TRUE statement, and talking about race is not playing the race card, it is exposing the truth to the light of day. And nothing has blown up in his face. Nothing.
Why did you feel the need to mention Acorn, and Van Jones and professor Gates? Van and Gates are African Americans, and most of the help Acorn gives is to African Americans. Coincidence? I think not.
You could have mentioned other organizations, and other people, but why pick on the descendants of African slaves?
Because you are a racist.
Do you "think"?
You could have mentioned other organizations, and other people, but why pick on the descendants of African slaves?
Because you are a racist.
Did you ever stop to think that, just "maybe", he references those people and ACORN because they are in the news all of the time and they're the first ones to come to mind? Jesus Christ you're a race-baiting idiot.
And, look at the link here: Obama did BETTER with whites than Kerry did. Not exactly what you'd expect out of a "racist' country. Moron. http://www.pollster.com/blogs/white_vote_for_obama_in_the_st_1.php
really?
Really? All the time?
How many times have gates and jones been in the news, for how many things? Tell me.
Once each. Why mention a dead story? Because they are black. You can find other people to talk about, can't you?
Moron.
You don't watch the news
You don't watch the news much, do you? ACORN is in the news all the time. Jones was in the news for like 2 weeks straight over a huge issue and his forced resignation, and very recently I might add. Gates was only a couple months ago, and that got the whole country into an uproar because Obama smashed the Police with his statement. They are notable events.
I talk about white crazies in the Obama administration all the time. Cass Susnstein = nut; Mark Holdren = nut. Robert Gibbs = douche. Nancy Pelosi = devil. I can go on forever...(And I wasn't the one that mentioned ACORN, Jones, Gates, originally BTW).
And, did you see my link? Of course, you'll probably ignore it. You'd rather go on living life "with an excuse". The truth is, while racism does and always will exist in some small pockets of this country, it's largely dead. You just want to have it there so you can make excuses.
And, you know you "really" are a moron right? Calling me it doesn't make it true, and it doesn't make that fact that you truly qualify go away.
idiots
How is it that you think Carter and not Joe Wilson made an idiotic statement? Both men are from the South. Carter is a fundamentalist Christian who has actually tried to live up to the words of Jesus. You ally yourself with those who blather about Jesus but do not obey his teachings, who choose instead to foment violence and hatred.
Carter is, by any reasonable measure, a far greater intellect than Wilson--care to list some accomplishments of Wilson's that stand up against Carter's?
I've really had enough of such knee-jerk lockstep reaction. So have most Americans. You celebrate as a hero one man who was rude to a president, and you are rude to a former president yourself. Get real. Get some manners. Or shut up.
idiots x 2
First off, Carter is an idiot for saying racial motivation is the driving force behind anti-Obama administration movements. Why? Well, for starters it makes no sense that more whites supported Obama than Kerry and that he is the "victim" of racism. It's totally nonsensical. In addition, any white voter discrepancy in favor of McCain over Obama was a result of a historical Republican favoritism by whites! Yes, it's true... white's always vote for Republicans at a higher frequency.
Now, you're a moron for expecting the country to idolize "politicians" who have the gall to lie to us on national television. It's FAR more disrespectful and FAR more reckless for a president to lie to the American people (which he did in his "half truth") than it is for someone to call him out on it. The respect that the president has for the people should always be at least equal to, if not greater than, the respect the people have for him.
Because supporters are not racist then non supporters are not?
You say, "Well, for starters it makes no sense that more whites support Obama than Kerry and that he is a "victim" of racism. It's totally nonsensical."
Now that statement just makes no sense. Okay this may get just a tad bit complicated for you so your gonna have to really think about it.
There are fewer people who are fundamentally motivated by race that are fundamentally motivated by political ideology. Most people are motivated by their agreement with the canditates ideology.
All racists (the white ones), motivated by their racism, will not support Obama. The remaining white people, that aren't racist divide up by their political ideology.
As it turns out, of the non-racist whites, more supported Obama than supported Kerry because they agreed politically. That means that the remaining group that didn't vote Obama has fewer non-racists. And because the group still has all of the racists, the proportion of racists to non-racists in the anti-Obama group is larger. If all non-racists whites voted for Obama, then the anti-Obama group would consist of only racist whites. Logically then, the anti-Obama group would be more racially motivated than the anti-Kerry group because it contains fewer non-racists.
To say that because more white people voted for Obama than did Kerry speaks only to the political leaning of those white people and means nothing in terms of the racist leanings of those that didn't.
Now that says absolutely nothing about racism. Nor does it say that Wilson is racist or not. It also doesn't address if Obama was lying when he said that he would not sign a bill that supported healthcare for non-citizens. It also doesn't address if non-citizens should be covered by healthcare. It alo says nothing about whether HR3200 was written by Obama or by the congress. It also doesn't address if HR3200 should also contain actual enforcement along with the language that says that non-citizens should be covered.
My point, my only point is that your argument is completely non-sense and cannot be a starting point for any further discussion.
I know, it's complicated.
*sigh*
However, that creates a problem with your argument. If there are so few racists (which I agree with) then your point is moot! Racism can't be driving a majority of Americans to disapprove of a President and his policies if racism exists only in a small minority, as you correctly imply. Nobody is going to deny that racism exists, just the prevalence of it.
Racial Division
So what your really saying, Yael, is that the people of color didn't vote for McCain because he is white. They voted for Obama because he is a black man not because of his policies.

It's difficult to determine
It's difficult to determine who is the bigger idiot, you or Carter. Given the fact Carter has been spreading pathetic drivel longer than you, I suppose he wins the battle between blithering idiots. That said, you still manage to come in a close second, which should give you a true sense of being the younger fool. At the rate you going, you should be able to over-take Jimmy in 20-30 years. The truly sad thing is, years ago, when Billy Carter was still with us, people thought he was the equivalent of pimple on Jimmy's rump. The truth is now known, Billy had much more sense and should have been the democratic nomination for president.
