Oh, boy, Wanda Sykes is in trouble. That's what you get when you make fun of Rush Limbaugh.
But while conservatives were screaming Monday, let's face it: Sykes said something mean but also funny about the right-leaning Limbaugh at the White House Correspondents Association dinner Saturday night.
Boy, Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails – so you said you hope America fails ....To me, that's treason. He's not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, 'cause I think maybe Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker, but he was just so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight.
These dinners are supposed to feature sharp-elbowed humor, and Sykes delivered.
In fact, she also poked plenty of fun at President Barack Obama and others in his administration, a required part of the program.
But by Monday afternoon, her comments on Limbaugh were drawing ridicule from the right -- and a bit of admonition from the White House.
Spokesman Robert Gibbs said he hadn't talked to the president, but added:
"I think there are a lot of topics that are better left for serious reflection rather than comedy. I think there's no doubt 9/11 is part of that."
Then again, Sykes wasn't joking about people being murdered by terrorists. She was comparing Limbaugh to a terrorist for his comments about the Obama administration.
Over the top? Probably. Funny? To some, yes. As Sykes even said after her comparison of Limbaugh to a terrorist:
"Too much? But you're laughing inside."
Yes, plenty of Limbaugh critics were doing just that on Monday, even as they awaited the usual apology from the White House and others who attack the radio talk-show host.

First, I don't think Wanda Sykes is funny, I never have. I don't like her type of humor.
Second, Rush Limbaugh put himself in the public eye when chose his profession. If he can't take the heat then he needs to rethink his career choice.

As far as I know, Limbaugh didn't even address Sykes' routine on his show. I'm sure he saw it for the nonsense it was.
Here's something that is far funnier. "Yael" in Hebrew means "ibex" (mountain goat). First, I find it hilarious that of all the names available, there are parents who would choose to name their son "mountain goat." And, second, I also find it humorous that Yael seems to be deliberately taking on mountain goat features with that beard of his.

for big speeches of course they all do. I have worked in politics for well over a decade with elected officials on both sides of the aisle. I can tell you with some authority most can speak off the cuff fairly well. Most will use it for major addresses, keynotes, etc. But not at campaign events, townhalls, and definitely not at press conference.
I have personally never witnessed a politican using a prompter at a press conference.
Aside from that Obama is too dependent on them. When he gets off the screen he stammers and fumbles worse than Bush.
I know it has been used many times before but at the conventions in August Rudy and Palin's prompters broke and they kept going just fine. Obama on at least 3 occassions has had issues with his prompter (that i have personally seen) and each time he stopped and waited in virtual silence while they fixed it.
For a man so reverred for his so called oratorial abilities...he is really not that gfood when he cant read it directly from a screen.
If someone can produce some photos of Bush, Clinton, Reagan, anyone using a prompter during the Q&A portion of a white house press conference...i will admit I am wrong.
Rockslide - he HAS to appear to be better
on his feet than Bush. His people in his campaign and the liberals (including in this blog) continue to make reference to Obama being more intelligent than Bush. So going off the teleprompter and screwing up would be a big eyeopener to the folks who bought into the Messiah mentality. And that CANNOT HAPPEN!

If you read my posts on the subject, you will notice that it's not what she said about whom - it's OUR PRESIDENT laughing along feeling untouchable, and without remorse.
And everyone wants to compare him to what Rush has said in the past. You can say and do a lot of things as a normal citizen, but when you are the POTUS, that's a little different. Maybe he's not as sophisticated as people thought.

1. I don't like Limbaugh one bit but Sykes' comments about Limbaugh were tasteless and not funny.
2. The fact that Limbaugh constantly makes tasteless and unfunny remarks does not excuse Sykes.
3. Where I split from the critics is where they complain because Obama laughed at the unfunny jokes. OMG he laughed at the wrong thing!!! Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. It's a comedy event, he was relaxed and predisposed to laugh. Have you never laughed at something that wasn't really funny because you were laughing already and you were just in the mood to laugh?

What I cannot get used to is the reaction by OUR PRESIDENT when something like what she said is a laughing matter to him. I would hope he was better than that. I could understand that, in the moment, he laughed too fast - but watching the video, he didn't show any regret (nor did he apologize later).
So, this is who we have for OUR PRESIDENT - a man who thinks that behavior is acceptable. THAT'S UNACCEPTABLE!

Wanda Sykes' comedy routine at the White House Correspondent's Dinner was really offensive. In it, Sykes suggested that conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh is supported by Hamas, and that Islamists are "constantly issuing Limbaugh talking points." She joked about terrorists supporting conservatives in general, suggesting that recent violent events in Iraq are attempts by terrorists to swing the upcoming midterm elections in favor of Republicans.
Then she got really personal. She joked that Limbaugh was a racist who doesn't want black people to "escap[e] the underclass." She accused him of being responsible for killing "a million babies a year," and aired her friend's theory that Limbaugh himself was a terrorist attack," a followup to 9/11. She also, most disgustingly, said that if conservatives kept apologizing to Limbaugh, they'd eventually contract "anal poisoning." She wondered when Republicans would finally stop "bending over and grabbing their ankles" for Limbaugh, and finally concluded that Limbaugh was just a "bad guy."
Oh wait. Wanda Sykes didn't say any of these things. These are things Rush Limbaugh has said about Obama or other Democrats in the past year, the kind of statements few reporters found offensive enough to write about, despite the fact that most of them were said with the utmost seriousness. And while Sykes is a mere comedian whose influence on the Democratic Party is negligible, Limbaugh's influence in the party is so great that Republican leaders can't even criticize him without having to issue apologies after the fact.

Medical science can keep him alive if his kidneys fail. And he can afford the treatment. He won't even need single payer health care. And since his job requires only his big mouth, he can still preach to all of his fans on the air, while he is hooked up to those machines.
Now let's compare what Wanda said to Bush joking about looking for WMDs. US soldiers actually did die and our president thought it was funny to joke about why we invaded Iraq (well, one of the reasons anyway). I remember the right accusing the left of having no sense of humor after that little 'comedy' routine. Hmmm.
