Wow, talk about a tough economy. Even the mighty New York Yankees are cutting ticket prices just to get a few more fans to show up for games in their new $1.5 billion stadium.
Some of the tickets are for the notorious $2,500-a-game Legends Suite seats that were far less than full during the Yankee's first home stand last week.
On Tuesday, Managing General Partner Hal Steinbrenner
said the prices for some of those seats closest to home plate would fall to $1,250 a game.
Isn't that much better?
The Yankees also are slicing the costs of some tickets along the foul lines, going from $1,000 a game down to "only" $600.
Kansas City Royals fans have their own high-priced tickets to buy. They are called Crown seats and they are behind home plate.
A season ticket holder has to pay $190 a game for a Crown seat. The price rises to $250 a game for a single ticket to a so-called premium game, such as one against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Royals are the better buy, financially and in the standings: As of Tuesday, the Royals were 10-9 and the Yankees were 9-10.
