Susan BoyleBy Barb Shelly, Kansas City Star editorial page columnist
Weeks after she bowled the planet over with her voice, the world remains preoccupied with Susan Boyle's looks.
"Susan Boyle: Why the Makeover?" is the question New Zealand's public TV station, TVNZ, asks on its Web site today.
From the story :
Yes, she of the bushy eyebrows and grey hair, who we so loved for going on British TV (and subsequently PCs around the world) and standing proud despite guffaws from the audience about how she looked, has gone and dyed her hair and plucked her eyebrows.
So why has the woman, who in answer to Larry King asking if she would change her look replied "Why should I change?", gone and ... well ... changed?
But why not? Who are we to begrudge Boyle of a session with a hair colorist and whatever you call people who style eyebrows?
Remember, it's about her talent. She was a sensation when she marched on the stage of Britain's version of American Idol and sang rich and true. If she sings like that again, why should anyone be disappointed because her eyebrows are thinner?

Susan Looks Great!
I didn't want Susan to get a makeover either, mainly because I didn't want anyone trying to change her into a blond and go overboard. But the changes she has made are very gentle, while at he same time have made her look 20 years younger. She looks so cute and so confident. I love the changes. But even if she had not made them, I would still feel like I have all along. I love her for who she is, and I celebrate her and am very thankful for her. So, HOORAY Susan!
