As has been said before, the name marriage is taken, you are not going to be viewed as "normal" and you are not going to get married.

As the CA Supreme Court will soon rule, amendments to constitutions, such as in MO, are the truest expression of the peoples' will and they will rule.

Since when do we need to give contestants in a competition slack for being nervous? Isn't the whole point to see how they respond under pressure? To see whether they can formulate a coherent and intelligible response to a challenging question? If a contestant on a singing competition forgot the lyrics and sang out of tune, would we think, "oh, well, she was just nervous, she still deserved to win?" She was given an opportunity to articulate her stance on an issue and botched it. End of story.

The word Bigot seems to get thrown at anyone who disagrees with the homosexuals right now.. lets see what Websters defines it as: "a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance".
I think that when "Carrie called Perez the B-word on her site" or said she actually meant the "C" word and everyone (including hollywood) launched out at him for expressing his "Opinion" as she asked. even though the majority of polls emails and calls to news agency's and Donald Trump (owner of Miss USA) were overwhelmingly in his favor.... sounds like BIGOTRY to me........ Ooppps my Bad I think I had the names Switched.. it was Perez OMG.. he's a Homosexual, he's not a Bigot He Can't be, can he??

I guess that's diplomatic, even if it's not quite true in most places. With that said, she didn't stop there.

He didn't say "should all the other states be free to decide the issue for themselves?", he said "should they follow suit?" and adopt same sex marriage. The second part of her answer was her personal opinion about same sex marriage, which she said she disagrees with.
He didn't ask for her views on same sex marriage, though. He asked about what States should do. Again, you don't qualify your diplomatic answer with one that basically takes what you just said back.

It's a stupid answer. There are about a billion ways to *not offend* a portion of your audience and when your only goal is to answer in a way that shows that you *can be* diplomatic, that you *can* represent everyone in the country, you don't qualify your answer in the way that she did.

I'd be much more impressed with Prejean if she came out and said something like, "When I made my comment I didn't understand that gays and lesbians only had the choice of getting married in a few limited places. I now understand that my statement was in error and while I haven't changed my mind on the issue, I have a better understanding of why my comments created such a strong reaction."

See? I even allowed her to continue to voice her same beliefs, but insisted she corrected her mis-statement.

Prejean made the statement that here in the U.S. we can chose between same- and opposite-sex marriages. That is patently untrue. With the exception of one state that offers same-sex marriage and a very few that offer civil unions or similar arrangements, ONLY marriages between opposite-sex partners can be "chosen."

Prejean shows herself to be uninformed in the same way as folks who claim the rights of GLBT people are already protected. (Hint: while a small number of states and a few cities include sexual orientation as part of their non-discrimination policies, gays and lesbians can still be fired for being gays and lesbians throughout the majority of the U.S.)

I have no problem with persons opposing GLBT rights and I'm always happy to debate them ... but I do have a problem when they base their statements on false information.

Hey Beige, what was Miss CA saying that was uninformed? Who are you to tell her that her opinion, based on her beliefs, is wrong? Just because she has a different set of beliefs doesn't make her uniformed; she just doesn't agree with your agenda.

Did you ever watch Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire or Cheaters? How do you feel about you breeders being depicted as money-grubbers who can't keep their pants up? Those shows really expose the heterosexual agenda, don't they?

First, Perez Hilton is a complete and utter jerk and his question was totally without any class.

But the bigger issue is not whether the would-be beauty bimbo should be congratulated for speaking her mind. Of course she has that right. But instead of praising her for speaking up, how about pointing out how uninformed she is in her statement about how in the U.S. we can "choose" same- or opposite-sex marriage?

If Yael is going to praise Prejean for offering up a clueless, vapid and incorrect opinion, can we expect to see him praise Rush Limbaugh for taking a stand? Or Osama Bin Laden for courageously pointing out that infidels must die? Or perhaps admiring Fred Phelps for swimming against the tide of mental health?

If the gay community is going to make progress, it would help is folks like Yael wouldn't presume to speak on its behalf when they don't understand the issues.

I don't admire her for giving a non-tactful, non-diplomatic answer to a politically charged question. And then calling attention to herself afterward by shouting "poor me". Certainly you can see why her answer would be hurtful to those who don't have the option to marry the person of their choosing. Perez Hilton's remarks were classless as well.

Since Ms Prejean expressed an opinion, open mindedly qualified and presented respectfully I would suggest that the only bigotry displayed so far is by the unbearingly rude and bigoted Mr Hilton and by the perpectives rudely and presumptuously displayed by the intolerant posters from his activist minority.

Then there is the issue of truth! Do we live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage if you want? Perhaps some states, but from my (whole) country, in my family, I think that I still see alot of opposition and fighting to allow it. No offense to anybody out there, but that is how open my eyes are.
