For the second straight day, Mark Funkhouser and Gloria Squitiro were on national TV Tuesday morning, trying to play the victims of a conspiracy out to embarrass them. How sad.
There was no new "news" during the cursory interview on FOX News, but Squitiro did get off a few negative comments about the people who live in Kansas City (and pay her husband's salary).
Squitiro (who talks about being an East Coast Italian) took aim at the Midwest while trying to explain why so many people want her out of City Hall.
She said it maybe "hasn't filtered through to the Midwest" that political wives can come "out of the closet."
Squitiro claimed that "Hillary (Clinton) paved the way" for people like Michelle Obama to sit anywhere she wants "in the West Wing."
It was the second straight day that Squitiro oddly compared her situation as a meddling staff volunteer to the behavior of presidential wives.
Funkhouser took his usual approach to the matter, saying Squitiro had become a "convenient target" for critics who don't like him.

I am appalled that Squitiro
I am appalled that Squitiro tries to compare herself to a presidential wife. Women will understand the moniker "mean girl". Squitiro is a bully, and Funkhouser is turning a blind eye to her meaness. It is a shame that Kansas City, at this point, seems to have Squitiro has their Mayor not the person who was appointed. Funkhouser and Squitiro want to scream vicitmization, but I think Kansas City is the real victim. I think at this point if he won't step down, he needs to be recalled.
Demeaning the very people
Demeaning the very people who entrusted Mark Funkhouser with a position of great trust speaks very poorly of Ms Squitiro.
Remember, the people whom Ms Squitiro finds so objectionable are the very people whom she sought to win favor less than two years ago.
What's changed?
It isn't the voters who wanted greater transparency in government. It isn't the voters who wanted more accountability for use of TIF expenditures. It isn't the voters who wanted a mayor who worked for "regular people.
Where is the Mark Funkhouser and the Gloria Squitiro who said they believed in these things? What happened to those people who told us that good government wasn't about them but rather high principles of accountability and responsibility?
Those two people have been strangely absent for the last year and a half.

This lady is a piece of demented vulgar clueless toilet waste. I see no need to treat her any better than she has treated staff and all of us.
I missed the part about the "beige people" that keeps getting posted on the various blogs. However, knowing that she has been quoted as referring to the East side as the "black part of town" nothing that pours out of her mouth would surprise me.
Just one more example of how
Just one more example of how well our West Virginia mayor and his New York wife understand the midwest ethic.
Her mouth is even bigger than his ego and both are out of control most of the time.
All I can say is the lady
All I can say is the lady reminded me of that broad off that repo show on trutv.
Does Gloria understand how
Does Gloria understand how well she fits the stereotype Midwesterners have of loud, crass, pushy, obnoxious New Yorkers?
The "Orange Revolution" is dead! Long live the Beige Revolution!
