Raytown is one of those KC suburbs that gets too much undeserved negative publicity. So here's a shot of good news for the city:

For the first time in history, the Raytown South High School football team will play in a state championship game next weekend.

The Cardinals surprised the perennially powerful Raymore-Peculiar team Friday night, 27-18, scoring three 4th-quarter touchdowns.

I live in Kansas City near the city of Raytown, and my children have attended Raytown High School.

But I'll be rooting for the Cardinals to go all the way next weekend and bring the state championship trophy home to Raytown.

It would be a crowning achievement for the high school and also bring some positive publicity to the city.
