By now, no one's surprised at what slips out of Sarah Palin's mouth. On Wednesday, Palin offered her services to Barack Obama. Really.
But will he ask for her help?
Palin told CNN's Wolf Blitzer: "It would be my honor to assist and support our new president and the new administration."
That's nice of her. But why would Obama request any assistance from Palin?
On energy matters, one of her area of expertise, she and Obama are far apart. Palin is the original "drill, baby, drill" lady, while Obama is far more cautious about looking for oil in America.
It's also not exactly clear how sincere Palin is about helping Obama.
She told Blitzer, for instance, she was concerned about Obama's possible ties to William Ayers, the former Weather Underground member.
"If anybody still wants to talk about it, I will," Palin said. "Because this is an unrepentant domestic terrorist who had campaigned to blow up, to destroy our Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol."
But Palin quickly added, "Now is the time to move on and make sure all of us are doing all that we can to progress this nation."
That's for sure, although Palin probably shouldn't keep looking at her cell phone, expecting a call from Obama any time soon.

I've previously taken 'jenniferm' to task on her posts. But I've got to say she's right on here. Thank you Jennifer, for the excellent Paglia excerpt. It too was right on.
People like 'mainstream' (and the Uncredible Halkah) who post snide, vitriolic comments about Sarah Palin are simply scared to death of her. They abandon logic and even their purported core principles in attempt to dimissively paint her in a negative way. How in the hell can mainstream (or anyone else) say with conviction what portions of the campaign Governor Palin spent "attacking" or discussing issues (by the way, why is it "attacking" when your opponent takes your messiah to task, and it's just "clearing the record" when you or your cronies do it to the other side)? 'Mainstream' (and Yael), you have absolutely no idea ... you're basing your definitive conclusions on the partial, skewed information fed to you by the liberal press corps.
Sarah Palin is bright, principled, and the kind of cooperative leader (willing to reach across the aisle) we need. Interestingly, it was this type of willingness to bridge the gap for which the Democrats praised Obama; but now they whine should be abandoned ... now that they control the White House. Nice consistency.

Mainstream is 100% correct. Having done some research on Camille Paglia, I can say with some conviction that Camille Paglia is talking total rubbish!!! Palin is an ambitious back-stabbinng opportunist. She has demonstrated clearly to the entire world (I'm an Australian) that she is as dumb as a stump and clearly out of her depth. Why Americans insist on voting morons into positions of power is beyond me. Surely after 8 disasterous years of Bush, people would wake up!!! I'd like you take this opportunity to thank, on behalf of the entire planet, the voters who supported Obama.

I'm calling for a strike on discussions of anything Mr. Yael A. posts - the amount and range of articles that he posts here are ridiculous. His influence is WAY overblown with respect to Midwest Voices.
I know I can't influence him or the Red Star - what I AM asking is that everyone who would otherwise be tempted to post responses to Yael simply refuse to do so, in opposition to his influence.
Just say no to Yael. Say no to his ever-present opinions on EVERYTHING under the sun.

Feel free to ignore what I write if you don't agree. But then again, and I'm sure you won't do this, why don't you cut and paste the part of my comment where I'm "telling you what's appropriate to think or do" BECAUSE I DIDN'T!

She's a modern day hybrid between George Bush and Joe McCarthy.

Read my lips: Palin spent an inordinate amount of time not disagreeing on the issues, but on deliberate character assination of the worst kind - she spent almost all of her time on the campaign targeting Obama as un-American, a terrorist sympathizer, a socialist/communist, with even deeper racial/ethnic implications.
Do you really think it was just an innocent mistake when she said she liked visiting "pro-America" parts of the country?
Don't lecture me or anybody else about Sarah Palin - I have a crystal clear view of what she is about, and more importantly what her enthusiastic followers are about.
I don't need you telling me what's appropriate to think or do, we have enough of that from the rapture right.
Why doesn't Yael move on?

Liberal Democrats are going to wake up from their sadomasochistic, anti-Palin orgy with a very big hangover. The evil genie released during this sorry episode will not so easily go back into its bottle. A shocking level of irrational emotionalism and at times infantile rage was exposed at the heart of current Democratic ideology -- contradicting Democratic core principles of compassion, tolerance and independent thought. One would have to look back to the Eisenhower 1950s for parallels to this grotesque lock-step parade of bourgeois provincialism, shallow groupthink and blind prejudice.
I like Sarah Palin, and I've heartily enjoyed her arrival on the national stage. As a career classroom teacher, I can see how smart she is -- and quite frankly, I think the people who don't see it are the stupid ones, wrapped in the fuzzy mummy-gauze of their own worn-out partisan dogma. So she doesn't speak the King's English -- big whoop! There is a powerful clarity of consciousness in her eyes. She uses language with the jumps, breaks and rippling momentum of a be-bop saxophonist. I stand on what I said (as a staunch pro-choice advocate) in my last two columns -- that Palin as a pro-life wife, mother and ambitious professional represents the next big shift in feminism. Pro-life women will save feminism by expanding it, particularly into the more traditional Third World.
As for the Democrats who sneered and howled that Palin was unprepared to be a vice-presidential nominee -- what navel-gazing hypocrisy! What protests were raised in the party or mainstream media when John Edwards, with vastly less political experience than Palin, got John Kerry's nod for veep four years ago? And Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, for whom I lobbied to be Obama's pick and who was on everyone's short list for months, has a record indistinguishable from Palin's. Whatever knowledge deficit Palin has about the federal bureaucracy or international affairs (outside the normal purview of governors) will hopefully be remedied during the next eight years of the Obama presidencies.
And you shouldn't be looking for offers either
