"Cindy, this is Mayor Funkhouser. You are off housing. Goodbye."
With those 10 words, Mark Funkhouser booted hard-working Councilwoman Cindy Circo out of her chairmanship of the City Council's Housing Committee.
On the scale of ingratitude, this ranks right up there with Funkhouser calling the outgoing parks board elitist snobs.
As mayor, Funkhouser controls committee assignments. But, at a minimum, Circo deserved thanks and an explanation.
Tacky, Mr. Funkhouser. You've again sent a clear signal that, as long as you are mayor, working hard for the city could be a thankless proposition.

show me that Barns and/or Cleaver behaved as infintile as Funkhouser. Show me that either of them acted in the vindictive, confrontational, petty, immature, and downright stupid manner Funkhouser has acted ever since the election.
Every time he opens his mouth he creates controversy, not unity or cooperation. He does not seem to have the ability to speak in public without disgracing the City he was elected to represent. He doesn't seem to have the ability to develop a rational priority list and stick to it.
What does he have other than a wife he apparently can't fuction without having her at his elbow 24/7?

Show me another Mayor who has had to have his security blanket by him 24/7 in order to do his job. Show me another Mayor who's spouse has caused the city to be sued.

The City Council deserves some credit
People keep talking about Cleaver and Barnes having more control and being above all this. Show me the same level of attack by their respective City Council's and I will agree we are making a fair comparison. Show me where their council's made personal attacks and made public statements like Circo and Ford did without censor. Show me another council that overthrew the Mayor's office and they went quietly? How was this possible? Does that speak to the current make up of council members as much as who the Mayor is?
Sure, he has made bone head mistakes and deserves credit for his own folly but there is a missing link to this overall circus show we call city government. They are all to blame. Some of their statements are childish. Remember that.
