Barack Obama will be elected president of the United States easily, says Monday's final Gallup Poll. Obama holds his biggest margin yet among likely voters over John McCain, at 53-42 percent.

The upshot? All the last-minute hopeful signs that McCain has been talking about sure don't show up in the final poll.

McCain's only hope on Tuesday is that Obama's voters stay home in droves. And they have to do that in state after state -- especially in swing states such as Missouri, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, Florida, and on and on.

That's a desperate hope, for sure.

The 53 percent mark for Obama in Monday's final poll is the highest he has had among likely voters. And the 42 percent for McCain ties his lowest mark.

When all voters are counted in the poll, Obama's margin grows even wider, 53-40 percent.
