By Yael T. Abouhalkah, Kansas City Star Editorial Page columnist
Sarah Palin makes a campaign appearance today with GOP presidential running mate John McCain in the swing state of Missouri. Here are three questions Palin could answer that might give Americans a better insight on this mystery politician:
1. Why did you get pregnant at age 43, already serving as governor of Alaska, with your oldest child already getting ready to head out the door?
It's not a disqualifer as vice president, of course, but does make me wonder about your judgment.
2. Why do you keep repeating the untruth that you told Congress "thanks, but no thanks on that Bridge to Nowhere"?
Sure, politicians mislead people all the time. But you might want to be a little different as you introduce yourself to the American people.
3. Do you really embrace McCain's policies on energy, foreign policy and the economy?
You didn't really say much of substance about those last two issues in your acceptance speech last week. And on energy, you want to drill anywhere and everywhere, where McCain has the common sense to not want to do it in your home state.

Questions for Sarah
I had to reread this opinion three times to be sure I understood that a Star editor would even print this!!! These are my questions for you, Mr. Abouhalkah:
1.) Are you aware of any foolproof way to prevent pregnancy for forty-something women? Maybe she should have had a.hysterectomy b. abortion or c.quit having relations. Wake up, as NO birth control is 100% - look up the failure rate even for condoms properly applied!
2.) Did you ever question the judgment in print of a man in charge of the nation who had numerous sexual liasons that jeopardized his marriage, his reputation, maybe even national security? What sort of judgment did he have?
3.)If you disagree with Governor Palin on her policies that is one thing, but you are criticizing what is still a personal family decision in our free country, to procreate or not, to give birth or not, to have one or more children. I assume you are pro-choice, but only the choice you deem responsible!
Question #1 is valid
Of course, asking if she intended to get pregnant while governor is a valid question because it absolutely reveals a problem with her judgment.
If she did not intend to get pregnant, she should have seen to it that she didn't. It's not that hard. If that's the case, I think that, not just her daughter but, SHE is lacking essential sex education.
If she can't manage something as fundamental as her reproductive system, how can she manage the complexities of (potentially) being the leader of the our nation and the free world?
Questions to ask of Sarah Palin
Unfortunately if question #1 is on the top of your notepad then maybe the STAR should give you a new notepad at another newspaper. It's men like yourself that have given men like myself a bad rap of being "sexists pig's". First and foremost it's "HER CHOICE"; that's the reason we live in the USA. I'm sure I could go on for hours but you really need to apologize to the Kansas City "Public" for even thinking (never mind reducing it to writing" for such a question.
Now on the other hand the other questions can be considered legitimate.
Two hateful Palin posts
The marching orders at der Sturmer have clearly gone out. Hate, hate, hate!!!! So if you're successful it won't matter what Palin says your readers will hate her like you taught them to hate Frances Semler and Phill Kline and Linda Holloway and Kay O'Connor and anyone else uppity enough to oppose the corrupt scum you endorse for office.
I used to wonder how the Holocaust could have ever occurred in a civilized country until I read this POS and saw how your readers reacted to your litany of hate. Should Sarah put a little yellow cross on her sleeve so everyone will know that this filthy rag wants everyone to hate her? Shame on you.
Good one, Yael!
Actually the first question you propose to ask is fine if you plan to do the same for every woman that gets an abortion.
Loss of Subscribers
And The KC Red Star wonders why they keep losing subscribers. Why don't you do some real investigative reporting on Bill Ayers?
The First question is certainly valid
It's the woman who has the kids, and is ultimately responsible for whether she gets pregnant or not.
Women have, and should have, control of their own bodies, and they should assume the appropriate level of responsbility.
A guy doesn't want to wear a condom? Huh!! I guess that's an excuse for getting pregnant, right?
Wrong.
Everybody knows it is extremely risky having children in your 40's. If you intentionally get pregnant, you are assuming that risk.
Unless of course is was an unplanned pregnancy. In that case, hey, life happens.
But whatever your judgement is in this case, the ultimate person responsible is the one whose body is bearing the child.
You can't argue choice and then avoid ultimate accountability for your body and what happens to it.
I will argue that getting pregnant in your 40's after 4 kids, intentionally or by accident, reflects poor judgement.
And it's a personal choice as to whether that influences my support or opposition to her candidacy.
Palin and those questions
Who would believe the republicans would bring in the first true communist subversive to our government. The left should give this woman a chance.
Last year, 2007, Alaska's legislature approved a major tax increase on those windfall profits of the oil industry. The state of Alaska has received more than $10 billion this year from oil revenue.
Thanks to the addition of these new taxes, that is double the amount it received the year before. The idea on how to spend the money comes from Alaska's governor Sarah Palin. Her administration now gives $1,200 to every single Alaskan to help them pay for gas. On top of that, each resident will receive an annual dividend of $2,000 from an oil-wealth savings account. Think what a family of 7 could do with that money (Gov. Palin has 7 members in her family).
That's a fancy way of describing wealth redistribution , i.e., downright communism. And that is real change we can believe in. Will she do the same for the Lower 48 states?

God will punish American – her pastor
Two months before the election we are not looking into her background and subversion of the U.S. No. we are preoccuplied with her instant celebrity status. Her coming interview with ABC morning talk show host rahter than a real reporter who spent a career investigating politicians is the biggest joke of all.
Michelle Obama says she is proud of her country for the first time, and the media goes crazy on her. This women and her husband are communits and secessionist, therefore the most unamerican couple to be elected and we are preoccupied with her being a soccer mom.
Well, in my state I want to know why Arnold Schwareznegger hasn't go those big fact checks from the oil companies for every citizen of California. What's wrong with him? Common Arnie, get us on that gravey train, too.
The answer the Q1; father and daughter, not mom.
What a "class comment" Interflop
You are a real gentlemen, you should be proud of yourself......
Son 'o frog?
Did they kick you off for your racist posts, Rouge?
Oy vey
Yael, please think things through before you post little nuggets like your first question.
As the first comment aptly noted: It's none of your god damn business.
And this is coming from a guy who wouldn't vote for McCain/Palin in 1,000 years.
Jaw hitting Floor...
No way....no way.....I did NOT just read this completely sexist and completely irrelevant question. I love it how men can have young children when they run for office or are in office but women are somehow "afflicted" by children when they- how you so elequently put it- "get pregnant". You should be promply removed from the Star's editoral board- I "wonder about your judgement"!!!!
Typical Man
She allowed herself to become pregnant! Made me spit out my coffee! The first ridiculous question stopped me cold. If you want anyone to ponder your next two more appropriate questions, don't lead with such a sexist comment. She didn't allow herself to become pregnant. God did. Her Down syndrome baby Trig is a blessing and maybe someday you'll understand that.
agree w/ Jenniferm that it's a stupid first question
but in response to "Lezzle," who asks:
"She allowed herself to become pregnant!?"
Um, yes, she did. So did her teenage daughter.
Two words, birth control. Perhaps if she'd told her daughter about how to wear a condom and to use some common sense we wouldn't be bandying Bristol's name all about the internet -- but since she clearly didn't, and Bristol apparently didn't appreciate the value of the abstinence-only education that Mom supports, the kid allowed herself to get knocked up.
Seriously?????
You would really ask that as the Number 1 question? Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.
And you call yourself a liberal? And you call this a liberal newspaper?
You know I thought Fred Thompson's wife got some really bad and unfair comments of being a 'trophy wife', yet HE never was asked about his young wife and two children under the age of 5 when he chose to run for POTUS. Double standard, indeed.
Here is the answer to your first question Alphabet
None of your GD business!
I tell you what, just keep on trashing this letter you have already succeeded in convincign 51% of Americans of your bias.
