Joe Lieberman would make a terrible vice presidential pick for John McCain.

I can't believe some pundits continue to say Lieberman -- a turncoat Democrat who's now an independent U.S. senator from Connecticut -- would attract a lot of voters to McCain's camp.

Republicans shouldn't trust Lieberman, who's already bolted from one political party.

And Democrats who are thinking of voting for McCain for any reason -- such as upset Hillary Clinton fans or Barack Obama haters -- certainly would be cool to the idea of backing any ticket with Lieberman on it.

Lieberman already was part of a failed presidential campaign, when Al Gore led the Democratic ticket in 2000. Lieberman could make history by becoming a second-time loser after, essentially, changing parties.

McCain should not tab Lieberman if he wants a good chance of winning in November.
