Greetings to readers who are visiting to comment on the editorial board's candidate recommendations. Use this space to tell us who you like for office, and why.
We're especially interested in hearing from readers who disagree with our choices in the Republican primary for Missouri governor (Kenny Hulsof); Republican primary for Kansas 2nd Congressional District (Lynn Jenkins); Democratic primary for Missouri attorney general (Jeff Harris); and Republican primary for Johnson County district attorney (Steve Howe).
Post succinct arguments here. We'll be printing some opposing views in Sunday's newspaper.

not bad
I agree with the predictions on the General. There won't be any Republicans to be found. Thank goodness there are primaries so the Star can say they have endorsed any R's at all.
Won't be voting.
Since I no longer have a party affiliation to call my own, I won't be voting for any candidates. If I did, I would not be interested in choosing someone that switched parties to run for another office.
My research of GE candidates includes (but is not limited to) who the super-delegates endorsed, when they endorsed and how much money they received in exchange. Down ticket Dems are forewarned.
OK look there is Inter Flop
(one taco short of a combo platter himself) jumping on the Grinch for a mistake not made. Way to go Inter Flop.........
Barb, you are correct, of
Barb, you are correct, of course. I was thinking of the general election, not the primary, and confused the two. My apologies.
My comments concerning the Star's preference for Democrats in the past did refer to the general election, and I stand behind them with regards to the upcoming general on Nov. 4 - and I would like to bet any eager taker that Democrats will be favored over Republicans by the Star's editorial staff, as printed in the Nov. 4 paper, if they follow their usual policy of reprinting their political choices.
Any takers?
Grinch
ain't the sharpest tack in the barrel, if you know what I mean.
Regarding party affiliations...
In response to the question from Grinch, remember that the elections coming up are primaries. Neither the editorial board nor anyone else is choosing Democrats vs. Republicans, or the other way around, at this time. Clint Zweifel was the pick of a field of Democrats.
Let me jump the gun a bit and advocate for Ken Hulshof for Gov.
Rep. Hulshof is extraordinarily well prepared to serve and in tune with the needs of Missouri voters on critical issues.
Can someone please keep a
Can someone please keep a running total of the recommendations' party affiliations? I would be willing to bet that the overwhelming majority of the picks will be Democrats.
Could you do this for us, Barb, in the interest of openess and fairness and diversity of opinion and all that other good stuff the Star likes to preach about?
TIA.
P.S. Clint Zweifel is a Democrat - no surprise there ... I'll have to borrow the Tuesday edition of the Star on Aug. 5 from the neighbors, because they always post all of their candidate picks in one convenient spot, and I'll be able to do the tally myself. I did this a few years back and it was quite enlightening to see the number of Democrats picked over Republicans. For those asking for objective data showing the Star's liberal bias, there isn't any better than this, other than the record of their campaign donations.

Crap!
Is old Charlie still "above ground"? He has to be about 110 or so..........
Treasurer
I like Charlie Wheeler. He has always been partisan but he has the ability to do it with humor and friendliness and without malice.
