Further evidence of mainstream media bias in favor of Barack Obama surfaced today with news that The New York Times has rejected an editorial written by John McCain. This comes just one week after The Times printed one from Obama.

According to the Drudge Report, Times Op-Ed Editor David Shipley explained it this way in an e-mail to the McCain camp: “It would be terrific to have an article from Senator McCain that mirrors Senator Obama's piece. I'm not going to be able to accept this piece as currently written.”

It should be noted that from 1995 until 1997 Shipley was Special Assistant to the President and a Senior Presidential Speechwriter for Bill Clinton.

So, The Times reveals itself (as if there were any doubt) to be completely in the tank for Obama with the big three television networks.

Drudge posts the entire McCain editorial as submitted at http://drudgereport.com/flashnym.htm.

Here’s an excerpt: “I am also dismayed that he (Obama) never talks about winning the war—only of ending it. But if we don’t win the war, our enemies will. A triumph for the terrorists would be a disaster for us. That is something I will not allow to happen as president. Instead I will continue implementing a proven counterinsurgency strategy not only in Iraq but also in Afghanistan with the goal of creating stable, secure, self-sustaining democratic allies.”

I think that tells us all we need to know about why The Times won’t print it. The New York Times along with much of the rest of the liberal media does not want victory, only retreat.
