A new poll shows that 55 percent of Kansas Citians approve building a 12-mile light-rail line with a three-eighths-cent sales tax. Take that Chamber of Commerce officials.

Mayor Mark Funkhouser told civic officials that news on Monday -- the same civic officials who recently questioned whether KC should move ahead with light rail.

It's getting clearer that the city should move ahead with asking voters in November whether they want to build a light-rail line that would begin a regional transit system favored by Funkhouser.

The mayor's letter also states that 77 percent of those polled agreed "it is time for city officials to stop talking about light rail and just get it started."

Again, that was a Funkhouser dig at what he perceives as the Chamber of Commerce's do-nothing attitude.
