I feel sorry for the employees of Jared Allen's Sports Arena and Grill. But not for Allen. And not for investors in the restaurant.
Allen had a big enough ego to think that hanging his name above the door of a restaurant would actually make customers walk through that door.
But in this case, everyone in KC knew Allen wanted out of KC. He didn't want to play defensive end for the Chiefs anymore.
Yet he went ahead and opened a restaurant two months ago on Southwest Boulevard. Others invested in the cause.
A month ago, the Chiefs traded Allen to the Minnesota Vikings.
And that was the end for the restaurant, which hadn't had time to get a reputation for having anything other than a connection to a (now-former) Chiefs player.
