If convicted of his latest charges, Randy A. Ralstin of Lee's Summit needs to spend the rest of his life behind bars. Let me explain.

Ralstin drove a speeding car that killed a motorist in 1999, then spent about seven years in prison.

On Monday night, he is accused of killing two more motorists, again while driving a speeding car.

The public's outrage over this kind of incident is understandable. Here's a guy who was given a second chance and apparently blew it.

But more than that, here's a person who killed someone in a negligent manner, has a long criminal record and yet was behind bars for only a relatively short time.

If convicted of the two murder counts he's charged with in Jackson County, Ralstin is the kind of guy you -- and your spouse, children and neighbors -- don't ever want to see driving on area roads again.
