It's time to start using the "R" word with Missouri's immature governor, Matt Blunt. Yes, he may need to resign for the good of the state.
Sound too harsh? Not for people who respect the governor's office. Not for people who realize Blunt's recent childish actions are tarnishing that office right now.
Here's the latest example of why Blunt made absolutely the right move in announcing in January that he would not run for re-election.
His office has demanded copies of every e-mail and document sent to or from Rep. Jeff Harris, a Columbia Democrat running for attorney general.
Why the request?
No real reason, the governor's office admitted.
They just did it to jerk the chain of Harris, who had the temerity to stand up and defend the public's right to know what's going on with their governor.
So the governor's office thought it would make this absurd request. Now taxpayer money will be wasted as Harris complies with the request.
Of course, the one person who's in real trouble over e-mails is Blunt.
Earlier this week, independent investigators sued Blunt to obtain computer backup tapes that contain e-mail messages deleted from the governor’s office computers.
Put simply, Blunt or his team may have illegally tried to hide information from the public.
Now the governor wants to divert attention from his mounting problems. Problems that, if they continue, could cause him to have to resign in disgrace later this year.

Privacy
Are you serious? First if you were "Alphabet's" employer you would know what he has done today. You must not be gainfully employed. Workers have no expectation or right to privacy in regards to electronic communications. Employers not only have the right to monitor emails and websites, but a duty to do so. Employees can be terminated for abusing policies or breaking the law. Sexual harassment, online gambling, and child porn are just the most outrageous actions that have been found by employers. They would be derelict in their duty (and probably an accessory to the problem) if they let that traffic go through their network and did nothing.
As for elected officials, they work for us and our paid with our tax money. I noticed not too many people like yourself complaining when normal city or county workers (non-elected employees) in Kansas had their salaries published along with their name, employer and position. Talk about invasion of privacy. Those employees didn't disclose that info publically, the state just decided to publish that part of their personnel file for anyone to find out.
Forget privacy. Your conservative Supreme Court doesn't seem to agree that privacy is a basic right for anyone since it's not in the Constitution. We don't even have an idea how many private phone calls have been monitored by our Government and what was done with that information. Bush claimed years ago that no wire taps occurred without court order and then it was international calls only. Then we find out later not only he lied on both items, but he thinks wire taps should be allow without court approval. I think that hammer and sickle has hit you in the head one too many times.
Paper Trail
It has been understood that emails are the same as papers, which must be saved. Nobody is talking about websites that somebody visited.
The request is for emails related to the people's business which have absolutely NO guarantee of privacy. It's the LAW!
What a load of Bovine Scatology
Hey, Alphabet, let me see all your e-mails and every web-stie you have surfed, today, right now!
You people are unbelievable, just because someone holds public office they lose the basic expectations of privacy? HUH? If this is so, why the hell would anyone ever run for public offce.
This little crusade the Hammer and Sickle has launched is a non-starter. Don't beleive me, well look at the "flood of comments" you initiate every time you bring it up.
Yawn, yawn, yawn...
