Voting in this mess? Plah-eeeze!

A lot of people may have intended to go to the polls today to vote in Kansas races.

But there is that little thing called snow that seems to have gotten in the way. Getting vehicles out of driveways and off neighborhood streets will be a challenge.

A lot of polling places also have been consolidated in Wyandotte and Johnson counties because of the weather.

Having a representative democracy is always a challenge when it comes to getting voters to regularly cast ballots. This morning’s heavy snowfall on top of the foot that fell last week doesn’t help.

Expect the normally light turnout this time of the year to be way lighter than normal.

This snow hits women and minorities the hardest. Reminds me of the days of poll taxes and other methods used to keep people from voting. What are we going to do to make sure these people are not disenfranchised?
