Victory for aboretum's statue - and common sense
The Kansas City Star
That was fast: On Friday a Johnson County grand jury did the right thing and quickly decided to reject issuing any indictment regarding the bare-breasted statue at the Overland Park Arboretum.
That spells failure for a group that, through a petition drive, had wanted to classify the sculpture as obscene and have it removed.
And the decision spells victory for common sense. Overland Park officials acted correctly in not buckling to demands to remove the artwork.
