Valentine's Day isn't just for women!

The pressure is on, men of Kansas City.

Have you bought the Hallmark card and roses, made the dinner reservation, and got the gift card for massages for that special woman in your life?

And - let’s go all the way - have you forked over serious amounts of money for a piece of jewelry, too?

Because it’s Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day, that special day when love is in the air.

And if you pay any attention to the world of TV, radio and print advertising, this is also the day that men need to work extra hard to keep romance alive.

Far be it from me to stop any man from taking part in the annual Valentine’s Day celebrations.

However, I do think it’s time to state the obvious for the women of Kansas City:

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for, well, you.

How about turning the tables?

How about not listening to the advertising gurus, then taking the initiative to get the card, the flowers, the candy and even a piece of jewelry for that special man in your life?

Good news: There’s still plenty of time to get that shopping done, plenty of chocolate to be bought (although I hear rose prices are out of sight).

Yes, I know some women take part this way in Valentine’s Day. Excellent job!

But many more men are worth the extra attention on this special day.

(Right, honey?)
