Streetcars again in Kansas City? Unbelievable!
Progress on getting a fixed-rail transit system in Kansas City had been so anemic for so long that I honestly thought I’d be about 100 years old before it ever happened and then would have to be pushed on in a wheelchair just to enjoy a ride.
But a positive vote by downtown residents Wednesday showed that I will only be 60 years old when streetcars are supposed to start accepting passengers in 2015. Amazing.
As the “Cable Guy” comedian might say, Kansas City finally got ‘er done.
Perhaps this will be the start of a real light-rail mass transit system for Kansas City and its surrounding suburbs.
