Voters in Missouri and Kansas will make decisions Tuesday on crucial political races as well as on important issues facing both states and the Kansas City area.
The polls are open in Missouri from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Kansas. The Star’s recommendations for selected contested races:
MISSOURI
AMENDMENTS AND PROPOSITIONS
Constitutional Amendment No. 1:? Shall the Constitution be amended to require county assessors to be elected in all counties with a charter form of government except Jackson County? — NO
Constitutional Amendment No. 2: Shall the Constitution be amended to exempt disabled former prisoners of war from paying property taxes on their houses? — NO
Constitutional Amendment No. 3: Shall the Constitution be amended to prevent governments from ever imposing any new tax on the sale of a house or other real estate? — NO
Proposition A: Shall Missouri law be amended to require voters in Kansas City and St. Louis to hold an election every five years to continue their use of the earnings tax, and to prohibit all other Missouri cities from using an earnings tax to fund their budgets? — NO
Proposition B: Shall Missouri law be amended to provide more humane conditions for large-scale dog breeding operations? — YES
