Don’t worry. Kansas City won’t lose the 2012 All-Star Game because of the Royals’ horrific start.

That tongue-in-cheek rumor began spreading a few days ago. After the Royals lost their 11th straight game - and 10th in a row at home - on Monday night, the rumor is likely to even pick up some credibility.

After all, it might be logical to think, would Major League Baseball really like its showcase event to be held in a city where - at this point - the home team is on pace to win 31 games?

In a season?

But there really is no “performance clause” in the All-Star Game contract with the city. Kansas City will be ready to host the game and do just fine.

The Royals? That’s another matter, although there’s no way this club is as bad as it has seemed since Jonathan Broxton blew a save against the Oakland Athletics 11 games ago to start this bad streak.

Is there?
