Rate the rhetoric tonight
Tonight’s State of the Union address is a stage-setter for the President’s re-election campaign. It is one of those unusual moments when many Americans take time to listen to a real speech, rather than get a recap of sound bites.
Given the national and international audience, and the significance bestowed upon it by tradition, tonight’s the night for some soaring rhetoric, or at least that’s always the goal.
In advance, Republican contender Mitt Romney weighed in with his stab at alliteration. President Obama, he intoned, has brought us “debt, decline and dissatisfaction.” Three Ds. Pretty catchy.
With alliteration unleashed, the polls are open here throughout the speech for which lines work for you, or fall flat.

1 year, 3 months agoUnfortunately Ms. Pepper, obama will use the SOTU as a campaign forum. He is once more late on presenting a budget, which really doesn’t matter since the Senate under reid hasn’t passed a budget in over 1,000 days.
obama certainly will not talk about his record, which as you aptly reported is debt, decline and dissatisfaction. I only wish the fall election was tomorrow before we sink another trillion dollars into debt.

1 year, 3 months agoElection year hyperbole on both sides. And to think, Mitt didn’t even know what was to be said yet he had a (p)response. Does being stinking rich make you clairvoyant?
