There was no slow-speed car chase or a glove that didn’t fit, but expect the Oscar Pistorius murder trial to draw the same volcanic amount of media attention in this century that the O.J. Simpson trial did in the last.

It has a lot of the same elements. A superstar athlete with incredible skills: Pistorius is an Olympic and Paralympic track star.

Like Simpson, Pistorius was a media darling who fell from grace when his girlfriend was killed.

Pistorius and Simpson are good-looking guys, and the women who were murder victims also were gorgeous.

Money, fame and fortune also are involved in the Pistorius case as they were in the Simpson case. The media coverage will be global and non-stop, just as it was for Simpson nearly 20 years ago.

The question is can the public stand to do all of that again.
