Pioli's 'save my job' media tour too little, too late
Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli decided he would spend Wednesday glad-handing the local media as he tries to save his job.
His discussion with The Star can be found here.
Good luck finding any meaningful comments about how he could have done his job better, such as spending more money on better players, for instance.
He also refused to answer three questions straight up, as another example.
As well, Pioli is meeting with radio talk-show hosts and TV people.
My take?
It’s too late for Pioli’s excuses. He’s built a football team that has made the playoffs only once while under his control.
He’s hired two coaches - Todd Haley and Romeo Crennel - who turned out to be failures on the field.
Haley was fired; Crennel should be.
Ultimately, owner Clark Hunt makes the call on Pioli. Given the inferior product being delivered for the millions of dollars paid by Chiefs fans, that wouldn’t seem to be that difficult of a call.

8 months agoYael, You say Pioli should be fired after 4 years and only making the playoffs once, and that Romeo should be fired after just 6 games. Interesting, I don’t recall you calling for President Obama to be fired after 4 disastrous years.(8 percent unemployment for a record 43 months, 23 million unemployed, 47 million on food stamps, 15 percent in poverty, health care cost up 2500 per family instead of decreasing 2500 as he promised, Solyndra, Fast and Furious, failed 800 billion stimulus, assaults on religious freedom, the country wrecking Obamacare, cash for clunkers, Libya fiasco and coverup, his dealings with Israel, and on and on.) And Yael, you might want to know that the great Bill Walsh won 2 games his first year with SF, and 6 games his second. On the Sunday night after one of the second year losses, he decided to resign the next day. When that Monday rolled around though, he changed his mind, and the rest is history. Simply one of the greatest coaches ever. Yes, I realize it’s been 4 years that Pioli has been with the Chiefs, but he isn’t going anywhere, and shouldn’t be. Romeo has just started and will properly be given much more time. Thank you. Mark Robertson Independence
