Outcome of presidential debates expected
People who watched the presidential debates Wednesday were treated to a good show.
President Barack Obama in his “trust me” blue tie defended his administration and his signature health care law. Hope and change weren’t part of his spiel in seeking a second term.
Sitting presidents don’t have the luxury of talking about loftier objectives.
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney in his “I’m a passionate guy red tie,” however, took full advantage of his challenger position forcing Obama to justify his actions and to tell why as president he didn’t do more particularly to set the U.S. economy on a better course. Romney got to talk about his hopes and the change he wants to institute if elected.
My what a big difference fours years makes. Missed a opportunity for Obama was hammering on the 47-percenters whom Romney kissed off in an earlier speech to wealthier donors.
Maybe we will get to see that when the two meet again in their second of three presidential debates.

7 months, 3 weeks agoright lewis… 8%+ unemployment for 44 months, over 5 trillion added to our national debt, 46 MILLION on foodstamps, 0care, Benghazi murders.
your man certainly could have spoken on all his progress, couldn’t he?
Why haven’t you written a posting condemning Biden on his patently racial pandering, “they gonna put you all back in chains” lewis, or the pandering of the big 0??????

7 months, 3 weeks agoA sitting Prez often does not do as well as hoped in an initial debate. A challenger’s only job is campaigning. The Prez still has to run the country and its foreign policy (like how & who to bomb when).
If you were going to score the debate as a debate, Obama wins hands down: He pressed on the issues, boxed Mitt in on vouchers for Medicare and got him to lie clumsily about his tax plan — all good for future fodder.
Unfortunately, Obama’s low-key style was not what the political junkies wanted. But, “cool” is a good thing in a president (and “angry” is the worst thing a Black guy can be, especially on stage with an older white guy.)
Now, he did seem a bit distracted — which probably should worry some guys in Lybia as much as Axelrod.

Good show? It was a boring 90 minute sequence of campaign slogans. No substance at all. Moderate mild Mitt took the stage but the “47%” Mitt is deeply embedded in most voter’s minds. Obama looked like he needed a nap. Jim Lerher lost control early.
They need to be on timers with a ten second buffer that shuts off their microphones when they ramble on. A truth-o-meter crawl on the bottom of the screen or, even better, electronic Pinocchio noses that grow on their faces as the facts get bent. That would be must see TV!
In all I suspect no one changed their mind about either candidate. I certainly haven’t and I’ll wager my colleagues here haven’t either.

7 months, 3 weeks agoThe Prez had a good “zinger” in his post debate speech this AM…. “Now, last night, we had our first debate. And when I got on stage, I met a very spirited fellow who claimed to be Mitt Romney. But it couldn’t have been Mitt Romney — because the real Mitt Romney has been running around the country for the last year promising $5 trillion in tax cuts that favor the wealthy. But the fellow on stage last night said he didn’t know anything about that.”
Which Mitt are we to believe? The flipper or the flopper? I think the behind the scenes, “I thought the cameras were off”, Mitt disparaging 47% of Americans as “taking no responsibility for their lives” in front of a crowd of wealthy supporters will be the one that sticks.

I think the real Romney is the one that kicked Obama’s ass last night.

They said that Romney was incompetent. It surely didn’t look like it last night.
