Obama like a lot of guys likes to shoot guns

The National Rifle Association and its followers may like to spread rumors that President Barack Obama is a leftist gun-hater, but that happens to not be true.

The White House released pictures to prove it. Obama had told The New Republic magazine that he used a gun at Camp David for skeet shooting, The Tribune Washington Bureau reports.

For those who refuse to believe, the president is in a photo firing a gun from the shoulder left-handed. Obama happens to be left handed.

The NRA should know by now that everything the president does is chronicled in pictures for all of the world to see. Although Obama wants gun controls to prevent more mass shootings like those in Connecticut, Oregon, Colorado and Virginia, it in no way means he wants to take away anyone’s guns.

All of those guys in line to buy weapons before Obama tries to take away everyone’s guns need to stand down and go buy books for their kids and bread, milk and eggs for their families instead.

Yeah The Prez is never more at home than when he’s lounging in coveralls and a flannel shirt, his favorite bird dog at his feet in front of a warm fire at Camp D. Difference is, if he wants to, he can slide in behind a 50 cal. and fire off a few thousand rounds, maybe take the joy stick of a Predator drone and hit and Al Queda target with a Hellfire missle, all in his role a Commander in Chief. He gets ALL the good toys!

GUNS ARE FUN!!! We really do “get” it. Heck, I used to play cowboys and Indians (Now, no doubt a more politically correct cowpersons and Native Americans).

And— because it is a good thing to have a pool of citizens ready and able to defend our nation (i.e. a militia/Guard or a regular military) it is generally a good thing for many of our youth to be gun-trained, not gun-shy.

None of which explains why we need AR15s and 30+ round clips in civilian hands — or why anyone can object to a requirement that those seeking to buy a firearm not be seriously mentally ill or career criminals.

The only folks who have a reasonable interest in the sale of those weapons and the abelnce of any background checks is theos e who make and sell these “Barbie for boys” guns. It makes them money — and they pay the NRA brass a lot of money to keep the business flowing.

Sure, the president is never above staging a photo op.

When I saw that picture, two words came to mind. Michael Dukakis.

Ya know I mentioned FOX/Chris Wallace and their rough handling of Wayne LaPierre Sunday, I speculated that the FOX machine seems to have turned on the NRA. In another story a little off the radar FOX has ended it’s relationship with Sarah Palin and that there is a Crossroads has created a action arm to better “vet” GOP Primary candidates. The Teas are toast. Gotta keep the crazy uncles in the attic…

Matt is right about one thing…. I can take the measure of a tool when I seem one.

Mark is startled by witnessing balanced news on Fox. But, that is understandable when there is so little of that on the rest of the networks.
