Missouri's punk SEC football schedule
The Kansas City Star
Missouri will face eight SEC teams during its 2012 football season. Now get this: Only three are against teams with winning records in 2011.
So much for moving to the “tough” SEC.
The Tigers will play three SEC teams with solid records in the next season: Alabama (11-1 this year so far), South Carolina (10-2) and Georgia (10-3). And MU likely will be favored to lose all three.
But the Tigers will have it about as easy as possible in their other games, facing teams with .500 records (Florida, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M) or worse (Tennessee and Kentucky) in their other games.
Yep, you don’t see LSU (13-0) on the list, or Arkansas (10-2) or even Auburn (7-5).
In fact, MU has picked as a no-brainer the worst team it’s likely to compete against in 2012 for its homecoming contest: Kentucky, which finished 5-7 this year.
Sure, MU can’t pick its opponents, and may have to play some of the better SEC teams in the future.
But for its first year, Missouri gets a relatively easy schedule as far as the SEC goes.
