McCaskill's gutsy solidarity with Obama
According to this report in Politico, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri is one of the few Democratic senators up for election who are willing to be seen at appearances with President Barack Obama.
Well, good for her.
Running away has never been McCaskill’s style. And as the senator points out, her GOP opponents (she has three at this point) are going to link her with Obama anyway. Should politicians score points for hiding in corners and treating the president of the United States like a pariah? I think not.
McCaskill, who definitely faces a tough re-election bid in increasingly red Missouri, apparently has decided to follow her own good instincts instead of being managed by some Washington masterminds.
Whatever they think of her politics, Missourians should be proud to have a senator who shows that kind of independence and authenticity.

3 months agoBeing in lockstep with the President shows independence and authenticity? Can you site any issues where she does not vote the party line?
Senator McCaskill is many things; rich, slow to pay taxes, partisan. Independent, no.

I hope you continuing the marching with jimmy obama. It should make Nov. 6 relatively easy for whomever winds up running against you!

2 months, 4 weeks agoGutsy independent is one way to put it. She did vote for the government takeover of healthcare against the wishes of 70% of Missouri voters. She voted for the trillion dollar stimulus that didn’t stimulate anything at all. Beyond that what has she done for us in the past six years besides prancing around the country in her private plane on the taxpayer’s dime?
