Lies had no hiding place in debate
The Kansas City Star
Vice President Joe Biden did a masterful job of exposing the half-truths and lies that Paul Ryan tried to slip into the debate Thursday night.
Biden checked Ryan on information Ryan tried to slip by the national TV audience on Social Security and Medicare, saying he wanted all Americans to have programs they could rely on in old age.
The bluster didn’t slip by Biden, either on the economy, and Ryan is supposed to be a GOP guru on numbers and the budget.
Biden skillfully handled questions about his Catholic faith and women’s health care rights. Ryan seemed stuck on Republican talking points.
Biden put the Obama administration solidly back in the election. It is up to President Barack Obama in the next debate to “flip the Mitt” Romney in the same way on the wholesale lies and half-truths that the Republican presidential nominee got away with in the first debate so the public can clearly know which candidates can best run this country the next four years.
