Last presidential debate to be intense

Expect President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney to redouble their aggressiveness next week during the last presidential debate next week.

Both were feisty Tuesday night in New York, trying to show their base and a national TV audience that each had what it took to lead the country the next four years. Candy Crowley held her own as debate moderator unlike Jim Lehrer. Both candidates mostly ignored his instructions.

In winning the debate Tuesday, Obama did all but hold up Romney’s Etch-A-Sketch to clearly show this time how the Republican changes his position on serious issues and always acts as if he had never said anything different previously. That gets at issues of trust and whether the public will be in good hands if Romney were to be elected president.

The debate on Monday will center on foreign policy. Bob Schieffer will be the moderator.

The event will take place at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. Will the Olympics come up with all of Romney’s foreign policy tour offenses this year?

Will they talk about Rep. Kevin Yoder’s naked, out-of-control romp in Israel? Stayed tuned, same channel, same station.
