Komen loses, Planned Parenthood and women win

Congratulations to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization for backing down and deciding it will continue to fund breast-screening grants for Planned Parenthood.

But check this out:

The war of words between supporters and detractors of Komen’s original decision to cut off the grants has generated reported $1 million windfalls for each group in the last three days.

People upset by Komen gave to Planned Parenthood; led by the anti-abortion crowd, people pleased by the Komen move gave to that organization.

Still, the controversy badly damaged the Komen brand among millions of women, even while Komen looked to be doing nothing more than paying homage to the anti-abortion crowd across America.

From the Komen statement:

We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women’s lives.”

I’m afraid the damage is done for me and Komen. During this fiasco, a little research in to Komen’s activities has ruined the organization for me forever. From copyrighting “race for the cure,” and prosecuting any other cancer organization for using any of those words in a fund raiser to the millions spent of lobbying against the Affordable Health Care Act, I can’t support this organization any more.

Actually, a compelling case can be made that all parties lost….big time. The only one that will end up damaged in any permanent way is Komen.

Much of the permanent damage that they will incur will be the result of the PR damage that the kerfuffle did. Folks like Sam Woods above, who discovered that a charity has a protectable “brand” found that, somehow, unacceptable. Mr Woods is but one of many blog posters who are surprised and disappointed that Komen would bother “protecting” their name and their public identity.

Did anyone think about what goes around comes around…Komen supported killing babies and throwing their dead bodies out into the cold, now it appears Komen has been thrown out into the cold for using their GUIDELINES to decide wither or not to give to the killing machine known as Planned Parenthood who has bloody hands, true?

Amazing who will stand up for death and promote it, truly amazing. Killing live babies, what a racket and we think the Holocaust was bad? Really? Both are/were legal, true? Planned Parenthood can shuffle the money any way they want, so who’s to say, true? Komen has bloody hands to.
