The random slaying of Harry M. Stone should concern every person in the Kansas City area.

The 60-year-old Raytown man was shot Sunday morning while jogging less than a mile from his home. The Metro Squad is investigating the homicide.

This slaying should concern every person who walks, bikes, waits for a bus or jogs on Kansas City area streets. It should trouble parents whose children walk to school or wait for school buses to pick them up.

Apparently a four-door sedan pulled alongside Stone, and a passenger fired several shots before the car drove away on 67th Street.

Solving this shooting should be this community’s highest priority so that no other crime like it happens again.

Solving this shooting should be this community’s highest priority so that no other crime like it happens again.”

This crime itself is a repeat of one just like it, and those miserable wretches were caught and “punished”, if 15 years in prison can be considered adequate pumishment.

There is no reason to believe that catching whoever did this will bring this kind of senseless violence to an end.

Which is truly a sad state of affairs.
