Jenny Sanford as senator would be sweet revenge
CNN has published a list with five names which it says are South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s finalists for the U.S. Senate seat soon to be vacated by Republican Jim DeMint.
According to the CNN website:
Her final choices for the seat are Rep. Tim Scott, Rep. Trey Gowdy, former state Attorney General Henry McMaster, former South Carolina First Lady Jenny Sanford and Catherine Templeton, a conservative attorney chosen by Haley to head the state Department of Health and Environmental Control.
It’s a sure bet that all five of the finalists are rock-solid conservatives, in the mode of Haley and DeMint. I don’t follow South Carolina politics closely enough to have a read on these people, but one name on the list is intriguing.
That would be Jenny Sanford, the former state first lady who performed with such aplomb when her husband, then-Gov. Mark Sanford, pulled a disappearing act. Sanford put out the word that he was hiking on the Appalachian Trail, but was found to be visiting a woman in Argentina.
Calm and composed, Jenny Sanford set a new standard for the wronged political wife. None of this standing-by-her-man business. She moved out of the governor’s mansion, filed for divorce and wrote a book.
Jenny Sanford is a former investment banker who reportedly supplied much of the brainpower for her ex-husband’s political career. I think that her achieving a higher post on Capitol Hill than he did would be a sweet form of revenge.

A wife who said what you are doing is wrong and I want no part of it—Sanford
A wife, also a Senator, who said well, it is wrong and degrading to me, but what the Hell, I am a politician—Hillary Clinton
Yes ms. shelly, I think you have hit on the perfect revenge. Thank you for showing us another difference between libs and conservatives!!!!

6 months, 1 week agoGood points as usual George. Mark Sanford is pathetic though. What a low-life. “Nice” example to his sons. The senate pick though will likley be Tim Scott. A great pick. Would be a great senator. Thank you. Mark Robertson Independence
