'I want to vote a STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET!'
The Kansas City Star
I voted this afternoon in the deep-blue KC neighborhood of Brookside. Very short line. My wife, Judy, voted earlier in the day and told this story:
An older woman got her ballot and sat down before one of those white cardboard privacy alcoves. She called for the person who came in with her, who was apparently her helper.
“Where are my glasses?” she demanded. She was very loud.
“I can’t see the ballot!” she continued, her voice still raised. “I want to vote a STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET!”
Someone came over to help.
“Where’s Mitt Romney’s name?” she said, and asked the guy to point out the right place.
Earlier, when I came in, a woman outside gave me a sample ballot listing the AFL-CIO’s suggested votes. Inside the polling place, the trash was full of AFL-CIO ballots.
Obama will probably carry this precinct, but there were a few who had other ideas — and at least one voter who made her voice HEARD. Literally.
