Holidays to yield cheaper travel
The price of gasoline is down, making it easier on the wallet for consumers this holiday season.
In the Kansas City area, gasoline went for just under $3 a gallon this week. That should give people a little extra change to spend on Christmas presents.
Of course the highways will be clogged with travelers so be careful out there. AAA is expecting 93.3 million people to be on the roads visiting friends and relatives for Christmas.
That’s up 1.6 percent over 2011. AAA said the skyrocketing price of air travel is putting more drivers behind the wheel.
From Dec. 22 to Jan. 1, a record 84.4 million people will drive at least 50 miles for the holiday. Again, be careful out there.
Regardless of how tempting it may be, don’t drink and drive, and don’t text and drive. And for heavens sake, don’t drink while texting and driving.
