Healing should be Jesse Jackson Jr.'s priority
Lewis DiuguidRep. Jesse Jackson Jr. was right to resign his seat in the House this week even though he was just re-elected on Nov. 6.
The 47-year-old Illinois Democrat had been hospitalized for the treatment of bipolar depression. It is nothing to take lightly.
The job of representing his Chicago-area district could certainly have pushed him back into the hospital because of the stress related to doing the work.
Chicago will be better served with the election of a new representative, and Jackson would do well to concentrate on improving his mental health.
