Governors going wrong way on Obamacare
Lewis DiuguidRepublican governors are going the wrong way by opposing key provisions of the new federal health care law.
The Washington Post reports that President Barack Obama received a letter from 11 governors asking to meet to negotiate for more control over their Medicaid programs. The governors said they want a more modest expansion of the state-federal program for the poor and disabled than what Obama is seeking.
The governors, including from Iowa, Maine, Mississippi and Wyoming, should be trying to do more than what is required to ensure that people in their states are fully covered. A healthier population is a happier population producing better workers.
