Good for John Brunner.

The GOP candidate for Claire McCaskill’s Senate seat has issued a statement bashing the hateful comments made by a tea party activist about McCaskill.

The words “kill the Claire Bear” are reverberating around the nation today, especially after another GOP Senate candidate - Sarah Steelman - refused to condemn them. In fact, she sounded like she was endorsing them.

Not Brunner, who issued this statement, picked up in a story by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

This type of rhetoric is unconscionable and I reject this kind of politics. Comments like these have no place in this U.S. Senate campaign, or any other campaign in this country, because they don’t represent American values.”

Not a good way to phrase it, but they are obviously talking about kicking her out of the Senate, not actually killing her.

That Steelman refused to refute the statement is another sign of how the GOP politicians subtly condone these implicit threats upon their Dem counterparts.
