GOP provided under-the-table funding to Akin
It comes as no surprise that the National Republican Senatorial Committee trashed GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin for his “legitimate rape” comments but then quietly funneled $760,000 to him.
The Associated Press reveals that the last-ditch funding went to Akin in hopes of salvaging his bid to unseat Sen. Claire McCaskill. It was part of the Republican effort to obtain a majority in the Senate.
But none of the money that Akin got made a difference, and the Senate retained its Democratic majority. McCaskill soundly defeated Akin who showed himself to be too far to the right for the tastes of people in the Show-Me State.
Sometimes Missourians get it right.
