GOP provided under-the-table funding to Akin
Lewis DiuguidIt comes as no surprise that the National Republican Senatorial Committee trashed GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin for his “legitimate rape” comments but then quietly funneled $760,000 to him.
The Associated Press reveals that the last-ditch funding went to Akin in hopes of salvaging his bid to unseat Sen. Claire McCaskill. It was part of the Republican effort to obtain a majority in the Senate.
But none of the money that Akin got made a difference, and the Senate retained its Democratic majority. McCaskill soundly defeated Akin who showed himself to be too far to the right for the tastes of people in the Show-Me State.
Sometimes Missourians get it right.
