GOP feeling day-after hangover
Republicans have to feel like Kansas City Chiefs fans today.
They talked up their team. This contest would be different. They got their hopes up. They poured a lot of money into the outcome they wanted.
They drank. They ate. They tailgated and they cheered, figuring they had a winning strategy with the same players going to the polls and pointing to the U.S. economy faltering under President Barack Obama’s leadership.
But in the end, just like Chiefs’ fans, Republicans were let down by their team and their non-diverse strategy — again. That’s got to sting.
The Republicans, like Chiefs fans, need to study Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity. You can’t do the same thing over and over and expect different results.
Following the tea party lemmings off the cliff that has kept this country divided isn’t a recipe for success. Being a Eurocentric party of the wealthy, more tax cuts and less government is a formula for extinction.
America has changed. Get with it, guys.
People who backed Obama today have to be smiling. The next four years have to look a lot brighter now.
