The fireworks went on past midnight throughout much of the Kansas City area with people in neighborhoods blowing up their stash of pyrotechnics.

In all likelihood, the mom-and-pop fireworks will go on a few more days as people get rid of leftover explosives as they would leftover turkey after Thanksgiving Day. The turkey causes less of a disturbance in neighborhoods than the big bang of the more expensive bombs going off in many communities.

Some cleanup occurred Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. But people in many areas were sweeping up and raking up their driveways and yards today from the airborne explosives.

The rockets go up, but gravity does it thing and pulled down the leftover debris everywhere. Don’t forget to check the roofs and gutters for damage.
