Calm before the Big 12 storm at P&L District
The Kansas City Star
The Power & Light District was, well, not exactly hopping early Friday afternoon.
Yes, a decent-sized crowd had gathered to eat lunch, enjoy the warm weather and watch some youngsters play basketball.
But all that was calm before the storm, before thousands of KU, KSU, Iowa State and Oklahoma State fans descended on the district to eat, drink and be merry before and after their teams played Friday night in the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament at Sprint Center.
The tournament is a wonderful annual event, bringing in money, visitors and a lot of energy to downtown.
Let’s hope Kansas City never loses it.
